I am from New York, and I went to Texas once.
They call soda=pop, a hero = a hogie
a shopping bag was called a sack
they have shopping stores called wiggleing piggys or something
The bar b que joints served food on stryro foam plates.
Definitely Southern stuff
Other than that, the people were nice, girls were really pretty. San Antonio was a cool town. Overall, I liked it.

I live in Brownsville Texas so you can't get any more southern than that in the United States. The language of Tex-Mex makes for some interesting words like
Chale' (cha-ley)- It means "hell no"
Buey (way) - Another name for dude
Mira - Spanish means to "look"
Chingaderas - Things you do when you **** around.
Look it! - Two words used in every sentence, and used redundently with above word and ending with the word "regardless". For example: "Mira, look it! That buey don't know he does all these chingaderas to me, regardless."
There are many more but you get the idea.
