hon......your brother is an alcoholic.
You need to tell your parents. It is a family disease.
Talk to a counselor at school or some other adult that you trust. Find a alateen or alanon group to join, They saved my sanity when my son was drinking.
My son started to drink at age 12 or 13 and his older sister knew it. She should of told us. By the time we knew he was in to heavier drugs. btw He died four years ago.
Your brothers life depends on you getting the information out.
Yes genetics have a thing to do with.
dang your parents let you drink............your family is full of troubled drinkers, and co dependents and enablers.

He certainly sounds like an alcoholic. If he continues to drink more frequently like he start drinking during the week, you should definitely address the issue with him and your parents, probably best to talk to both about it on the same day. If he is an alcoholic he may not want to quit or will not be able to cut back. Alcoholic people cannot start drinking then stop when they have had enough, they will drink until they are drunk, classic sign. Even if it is a phase it's a good start toward alcoholism.

There are various stages of alcoholism and criteria that are used for diagnosing someone with alcohol abuse or alcohol dependence. Without going into all the diagnostic criteria, I would say it's safe to call it a problem if his drinking is causing consequences in his social life, academic life, family life, career, legal problems, etc. If alcohol is causing noticable problems and he continues to use, that is a sign of alcoholism. Genes definitely play a roll in someone's tendency to become addicted. You sound concerned about him. I recommend talking to your parents about it. He might be mad at you, but that's ok. It's better than some of the terrible things that can result if he doesn't get any help.

Yes, it sounds like your brother is an alcoholic - especially if it runs in your family. Imagine what his liver looks like. He is stealing years off of his life by his reckless and irresponsible behavior. The worst thing is that it is a compulsion. You need to tell your parents. Your brother can not fix his problem by himself. He needs professional help if there is any hope for recovery.

Keep a very close eye on him, and if necessary, and you get the opportunity, help him out. There's definitely a genetic disposition to becoming an alcoholic.

This is something you should tell your parents. If he's not of age, he shouldn't be drinking at all. But, he's going way overboard.
