You cannot drive a car without a valid MOT certificate...UNLESS you have booked it in to a garage before hand and you are driving it to the garage to get it's MOT. If you do happen to get stopped by the police on your way to the garage, providing you have pre-booked your MOT you will be ok. If you haven't pre-booked you're in sh*t!

Only when travelling to or from a pre-booked MOT test appointment. This is also the only time a vehicle is allowed on the road without a valid tax disc.

On your way to the MoT test garage for a prebooked test, never back again unless it has passed (and therefore has a certificate).
