I took my son because his eye was red. Thought he had pink eye.

1. Nurse leads us to room. Puts bp cuff on arm. Puts pulse checker on finger. Presses start button. Machine automatically takes bp and pulse. She writes something down.

2. Doctor comes in. Asks whats wrong. I say eye is red since Monday. Doctor walks over and glances at eye. I tell him no dishcharge, only watery. Doctor says it is a virus and there is nothing he can do. Tells me to put warm compresses on it.

3. Doctor leaves

Time in: 1:00pm exactly
Time out: 1:06 pm exactly.

He didn't even have to put gloves on.

I call later, ask the charge. It 75 bucks.

Why is this???? Is this insanity?????????

That figures out to be $900.00 per hour. I know lawyers who charge $300.00, but that's a little steep, too. I guess they start out thinking they need to pay for medical school, then once they do, they like the money too much to give it up.

In China, you pay your doctor as long as you are not sick. As soon as you get sick, you stop paying him. It sounds like a much better system to me. Medical services are overpriced to the point that only the rich can be treated. Prescription medication is priced according to how badly it's needed instead of the cost of production. I hate our greed based, ineffective society, but like you and the rest of us, I have to live with it.
