you are unable to see the sex of the baby? I know they do the ultrasound for more important reasons like checking the organs and things like that but what if you don't get to find out the sex? Do you just have to wait to see or do they schedule another one?

Just see if they offer you another one. You can also look up a 3D ultrasound place in your area. Besides just 3D most of those companies offer just a gender determination ultrasound. They give you several pics and they charge about $50 just for checking the gender. That's an option!

my gf just had one the tech will try to get the baby to move for you so you can all see what the sex of the baby is. But for my gf the baby would not open his/her legs no matter what they did but they are getting another ultrasound in a few weeks. Most insurance companies will pay for up to 8 during pregnancy but that does vary on coverage. You can always opt to pay for one or do what they did for many moons honey wait! Good luck Trust me i understand I'm dying to know what i am having i have an ultrasound on may 7 cant wait and will be a little disappointed if the baby doesn't cooperate but most things in life are truly out of our control and acceptance is a big part of life I'm afraid. Just like doing things we don't want to (work) is a necessary evil too. Many blessings

they NEVER schedule an ultrasound *just* to find out the sex, but they will look again if you need another u/s for any reason. Some places don't even do a 2nd one because insurance won't pay for it. You can go to those 3-d u/s places and pay yourself.

Finding out what sex your baby is is a bonus. The ultrasound is scheduled to make sure your baby is developing normally and they don't have any missing parts (such as a malformed heart or lungs).

You'll have to wait to see what you're having. Unless there's a medical reason why you need another ultrasound, they won't schedule (or cover) another.

Good luck and congratulations!

Generally if you request a folllow up they may be willing to do so for you.

For me, my doctor scheduled my ultrasound with the technician at the local hopsital. He just sort of "forgot" to look for the sex. I told my doctor at the next appt and she said she'd check for me-- she looked for about 2 minutes and said it definitely looked to be a girl. It wasn't like a big long U/S but she was able to check the sex.

All you can do is ask.

They won't schedule another one just to see the sex of the baby. You may just have to wait.

It will do hand stands, back flips, star jumps and a whole host of stomach churning things soon!

Forget the sex - just be happy it is there. Wait for it to be born in good health and shape. Learning the sex now Will be a minor event. Much more fun and enjoyment to find out when it is born!

A few white baby grows now - you can go out and shop when it is born and you know the colours to go for!!

Stop worrying and enjoy!!!!

I guess it depends on the doctor, but that happened to a friend and they just did another ultrasound at her next appointment.

You just have to wait, unless you want to go and have a private one done, if you look at the back few pages of any baby magazine they are full of adverts for people who want a 3D scan, they are usually about £60, and are really detailed.
I like the surprise myself.

I think it would depend on if your insurace pays for another ultrasound. If they don't, you'd have to wait until the baby is born.
