You are entitled to fair compensation. Here is an itemized list of compensation you should consider when fighting a personal injury claim.. medical expenses, loss of wages, loss of job, cost of aides, cost of physical therapy, cost of counseling, ongoing medical expense, pain and suffering, property damages, hospital bills. Here are some facts you also need to consider. An insurance company is going to offer you a settlement and encourage you not to hire a lawyer (wrong). Always remember this, an insurance company is in business to make money, not lose money, so they will typically offer a lower settlement. Their first offer is typically not the highest offer. Second, when dealing with a personal injury you should always consider the risk of ongoing medical expenses. It seems like you are heading in that direction. You may feel great today but 6 months from now could be totally different. If I were you, I would probably contact a personal injury lawyer immediately. BTW- Do not, I repeat, do not trust the insurance company. Get a lawyer....
Take a look at the list I provided and it should give you a pretty good indication of how much you deserve. Also because you missed 3 weeks of work, are you eating into your vaction time? Are you getting paid for leave? Also, if you were working at the time of the accident, you also may be entitled to workmans comp..
I have attached a decent site. I would search for: North Carolina Personal Injury Lawyer.... Look at a few sites and start calling around to some of the attorneys listed. Good idea though to read over their websites and look for similar cases (success stories) of them winning these types of cases.. Good luck

It is always best to consult with a lawyer when there is injury involved. I was in a bad wreck and tried to deal with the insurance company who tried to blame my injuries and lack of healing on everything other than the accident. Unless it has changed in the last few years...or if it is different in your state, my injury settlement was separated from the settlement on my car. I had to fight for a fair value on my car and received the check a month after the wreck. the injury settlement went on for a year and I ended up hiring a lawyer since my medical bills were not be paid. When you receive a injury settlement it is for life and there is no going back for additional compensation. I received the amount of his coverage minus all the medical bills and lawyer fees which is really not enough when you have to live with the pain of having bones that are pinned together. The ironic part all of this....I was only wanting was my medical bills paid. You need to take care of yourself because no one else does! Good luck

The amount of compensation you should be paid isn’t found in a crystal ball. Rather, a number of simple factors such as the type of accident, related injuries, out-of-pocket expenses, medical costs and lost wages all go into determining how much a claim is worth. What amount an insurance company is willing to pay actually falls into a fairly narrow spectrum. I would not hire an attorney but I would contact one and get some idea as to what is fair and use that as a starting point for your negotiations. Good Luck

definitely consult a lawyer, but watch out some lawyers will take your case with no payments due up front but will charge you 33% of your settlement, if all you say is true I would take no less than 250, 000$ as long as the accident wasn't your fault

A fair settlement is roughly $500 - $1000 over what you're offered. Do you need a lawyer....no.

Technically, a "fair" settlement would cover your lost wages, all of your medical bills (including upcoming physical therapy & meds), and the cost to repair/replace your car.
Anything more or less than that would be unfair to either you or the other driver.
