I think "women are not to be higher then men" means that women aren't superior to men. In no why did God say that women were lower than men, just not higher is all. I took it to mean that God is promoting and demanding equality of the sexes. After all, God did say for "man to care for the woman." God just didn't want man to be a slave to the woman. As for women having to give birth, women have a hire threshold for pain than men. It's a scientific fact that men are physically stronger but, women can handle more physical pain than men.

Because the Bible is a book written by men.

God didn't give woman the ability to carry life, that is just how nature happened.

Just because we were made from the rib. Man first,blah..blah.
Truly I think it is because they are suppose to provide for the family. There stronger. But women have shown man in the military it don't matter how Strong they are, women can preform like men.

Some middle ages misogynistic guys interpreted the scriptures to suite themselves.

I believe womanhood and motherhood is extremely sacred in the eyes of God - and that is what my religion teaches me.

In Islam woman and man equal in every thing

"O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam) and from him (Adam) He created his wife (Eve), and from them both He created many men and women and fear God through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, God is Ever an All-Watcher over you." (Qur'an 4:1)

you can only be considered lower if you give permission to others to do so. im a woman and proud of it. the biblical perspective on the position of women is not one of inferiority, but of obedience to the authority given to men. Its explicable..men are less conducted by their feelings and intuitions than women :) thats my point of view.

Can you imagine a man doing it? He would whine and cry constantly. Oh, my. Only a woman has the state of mind and of body to do such an important task for the Lord.
No offense, guys, you have your wonderful purposes, too, but childbearing could never be one of them!

God didn't. It was written by men, for men. Look farther back into history, as there was a time when all the earth worshipped the Great Mother Goddess.

Men are not higher than women in the Bible. They have different roles but they are both equal.
