In the past I've bruised my arms by use of walls. But to use stairs (obviously my whole body - not just my arms will be hurt in the process) - that takes courage. Courage that thrills me yet haunts me at the same time. I feel that one day I may do this (despite the obvious negative consequences) for the experience. I may continually hold myself back out of fear and thus may not get to it for several, several years. Or perhaps, because I am preoccupied with this goal, I may impulsively carry it out one day within the next year or two.
What do you think?
Perhaps I should do something to get it out of my head, due to the slight insaness of it all. However, I feel it won't go away and I won't feel better unless I go through with it some day. I've had this wanting for about 3 years now and today it surfaces in my mind consciously. It will continue to do this every now and then until I DO something. Either it itself, or a way to rid myself of this feeling if at all possible.

Adrian, that is very close to how I feel. It's something new to experience just for the heck of it.

Details: I do have slight OCD.
No I have not discussed this with anyone nor have I seen a therapist (kind of scared of doing that). And I was not hypnotized in any way whatsoever.

You need to go talk to someone as soon as possible about the feelings that you are having such as a therapist, Psychologist or Psychiatrist. I understand you don't want to commit suicide but you are harming yourself and that is very unhealthy! There is therapy and/or medications that can help you. Please seek out help before you do any such thing or even have to continue being obsessed about doing it. Even you causing yourself bruising previously is a reason to get help in itself.

So you want to throw yourself down the stairs.
I have stood at the top many times, thinking the same thing, in all honesty it wasn't to see what it would feel like or to harm myself it was because of depression.
I thought I'd just hurt myself,
or just break my neck and live in a lifeless body with my mind totally aware of everything and everyone around me. wouldn't that be fun.
Your choice.
You and only you alone can seek help
either religious, medical, or mental.

You should really think about getting some counseling. You definitely have a problem. Have you discussed your feelings with your parents or a school counselor, or a close friend or their parents? This is not healthy. You could kill yourself. Get help!

No, please don't- for one thing, you are the only person on this site I've read all day who didn't mangle the English language or misspell anything. For that reason alone, you should LIVE!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and go get checked for OCD- there is a form of it that causes impulsive actions like those you described.

Ummmm...this is not a good thing...I remember when I was very young my mom threw herself down a flight of stairs in a Police Dept. & she was unconcious for what seemed like forever...I was horrified...because I was so young, I dont remember if the Police suggested for her to get help or if she got "put away"...this is SERIOUS...Please dont do it...think of those who love & care about you & how it may effect them...Go talk to someone...anyone...If you cant talk to anyone, go to an emergency room & tell them what you are telling us here on yahoo answers...they will get you the help you need...Good Luck & I'm Praying for you....

Hon, this is hurting yourself and you need to see someone. This is no different than cutting or taking drugs. Harming yourself in this way, or anyway is dangerous. Seek out a therapist.

I thin you should throw yourself down the stairs and get the urge over with, after that, you'll be fine. You're already fine, you just have the urge to experience what you haven't before, big deal. It's not a new concept, nor an old one. People do things just to know sometimes.
