----------
The History of every major Galactic Civilization tends to pass through three distinct and recognizable phases, those of Survival, Inquiry and Sophistication, otherwise known as the How, Why and Where phases.

For instance, the first phase is characterized by the question "How can we eat?", the second by the question "Why do we eat?" and the third by the question, "Where shall we have lunch?"

... or:
How can we obey God?
Why do we obey God?
Which God shall we obey?

hey you there - do you think I would try to compete with my Master, my Creator - Douglas Adams pbuh?! Of course his is better, I just asked whether you agree with the comparison.

(don't jump too high at the "My Creator" thing - I am Trillian, remember?)

Applying this to the Roman Empire:
How do we conquer the known world?
Why don't we go up against the Goths?
Where do we flee while Rome is being sacked by the Vandals?

Or maybe the Ottoman Empire:
How can we spread islam?
Why do we need to spread islam?
Where is our empire, dude?

It just doesn't seem that useful, nor predictive.

Lunch, yes. God, no.

Given the choice between living according to the Hitchhikers Trilogy (all five books) and the bible, I know I won't panic.

Why can't the third be why don't we become gods?

“"Man is a rope, tied between beast and overman
—a rope over an abyss. A dangerous across,
a dangerous on-the-way, a dangerous looking back,
a dangerous shuddering and stopping.
“What is great in man is that he is a bridge
and not an end: what can be loved in man is that
he is an overture and a going under.
“I love those who do not know how to live,
except by going under, for they are those who
cross over"

Absolutely!

So does future Psychohistorian Hari Seldon, and (former,)Earthling visionary Douglas Adams!

But you left out the last (and best,) part:

WHO is this god person anyway?

How can I get God to provide for me?

Who or what is God?

How can I help my fellow man by becoming all that God would have me be? How can I fulfill my destiny as a child of God?
