I don' t like superhero shows, with violence, or shows that aren't smart enought (oobi!!)
What is your 3-4 year old's favorite show that is also your favorite show?

I read to my daughter so much that at 4 (in july) she has many many of her books memorized. She has a wonderful desire to read, often. I don't despise the television though. I think it can be a very useful tool as well.

I don't know if I could come up with a 'best' children's show. If I had to choose a few shows that my child likes that I will go along with they would be:

1. Wonderpets. About animals that save the day. Won't teach the child much but it is cute and teaches teamwork.

2. Thomas the Tank Engine: More stories that are child friendly and pretty strong on teaching morals / teamwork / friendship.

However, my 3 yr olds favorite show now is Hamtaro (little Hamster big adventure). It is cute and fun to watch. Doesn't directly teach anything but it is fun for both of us to watch (no it wouldn't be my first choice in programming for myself, but at least it isn't mind numbing like Farzzle's world or Teletubbies )

I asked my family members to make an educational tape of themself singing the alphabet, talking about colors, numbers etc. Nothing fancy just 5 minutes. I then edited the tapes together with segments I recorded off PBS, NOGGIN. and Nick Jr. (Shh.. I think that might be a copyright violation)
We watch those in the morning, and then off goes the TV in the afternoon.

We love anything on Disney. My four year olds watch shows like Hannah Montana, That's So Raven, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and stuff like that as well.

Curious George! All my kids, from 2-8 love it. It is entertaining and teaches kids to find wonder in the world around them.
