Maybe not Tyson, but a good boxer could kick any Karate guys a** and be standing strong and defiant anytime...I have seen it happen a few times where a so called black belt challenged a guy in the marines and a smaller built boxer plowed this joker into the mat after 3 hits and the BRUCE wannabe hit the boxer 10 times with his feet and fists and still was KO'd in first round..it happened again with 2 diffeent guys who were pound for pound equal and the street fighter part time trained boxer almost killed the other Bruce wannabe. Karate etc is OK for average people, but a good street fighter or boxer would top them any time. Just check out George Chuvalo from Toronto where he was a boxer as well as a collector for certain figures and he even went the whole fight with the then world champ Mohammed Ali and the only thing that kept him from becoming world champion was he was an unknown atthe time...scared the hell out of Ali when thuis UNKNOWN dropped him onto the mat. Chuvalo was in many street fights with all kinds of Bruce lee experts and he just laughed them off as he bounced them across the room or bar when he was a doorman at a local bar in Toronto, so all you BL wannabes be careful, there are very good boxers out there as well as very good street fighters too.

here is a better question:

could bruce lee AND mike tyson take on Orgazmo and Choda Boy?

Is bruce a match for Hamster style?

Can tyson survive the deadly orgazmorator and the c ock rocket?

EDIT: ok, colinhuges, you do have a point.
The point bieng that most people who have and are "black belts" shouldn't be, because they weren't really taught how to fight.
Most martial arts dojos/kwoons/gyms etc. actually teach you techniques that weaken the power of your punch. the concept of chambering is somewhere along the lines of tossing poo at your opponent in a fight- no wait, the poo at least can make someone think you are nuts and actually might help you.
On average if you give me a "black belt" and a "boxer" (a guy training at a real gym, not NYSC's "cardio boxing" corse- or whatever they call it) I agree with you, I'll give it to the boxer- on average they train realistically.
However, if you get a legit bb, who trains realistically, even without grappling or groundfighting, I think the boxer is in serious trouble. It all depends on the training methods in the end. The simple truth that people miss in these "boxing/other martial arts" analysis is that the realism of the training is going to dictate who wins. Going in and sparring full contact standup hands only is going to be a hell of a lot better and more realistic than going in and doing a few pre-arranged katas and doing tip-tap sparring (which unfortunately many martial arts gyms do). IMO- this is why MMA (ufc and pride) is a very good thing for marital arts- it will hopefully clear out a large numbe of these crap gyms, even those that are not geared towards MMA competition will (eventually IMO) be forced to handle this new standard.

As for bruce lee and tyson. HOW much did bruce lee weigh again? Now ask yourself, do you think sugar ray robinson would have had a snowball's chance in hell against tyson?

Didn't think so.

Lee vs. tyson, why don't we just stick Barrerra against cro cop.

I suspected you were a little slow. Now it is confirmed. Have a nice day. Bruce lee. Mike tyson is a dumb *** boxer who started with no brains and now has even less. I'm sure even bruce lee could be considered slow to some of the better fighters that have and will live.

Actually, Bruce himself said that if he ever got caught in an arm bar, he'd bite the guys ankle off to get loose. So Tyson's not the only one who can bite someone's ear off. I'd say Bruce has the advantage simply because Tyson is limited to using punches, upper body strength, his teeth and maybe a headbutt or two. And Tyson once broke his hand in a bar fight hitting another black guy who firted with his wife Robin Givens and the other guy only suffered a black eye and broken sunglasses, but was still up and even talked to a tv news crew after the incident threatening to sue. Bruce trained all his adult life for a streetfight. He was one of the first martial artist to incorporate weight training with martial arts. He purposely didn't pack on more muscle like a Pro Wrestler on steroids because too much muscle mass would slow down his punches and kicks, so he only developed muscles that he need for stronger punches and kicks like his back, forearms, shoulders and legs. He studied grappling with JiuJitsu Master Wally Jay. He also trained with a Japanese Judo blackbelt champion who became his student. He trained in Boxing and had a decent jab. He practiced his kicks on a 600 pound bag every day. And ran a mile a every day. He stated that he didn't join tournaments back then because having rules and a referee won't allow him to use finger jabs to the eyes and throat, chokeholds, kicks to the knees and shots to the groin thereby limiting the outcome of the fight to favor only the stronger and heavier fighter. He didn't believe in weight divisions either and sparred with bigger taller fighters(which was one of reasons why Kareem Abdul Jabbar was one of his students, so he can spar with a taller guy who has a longer reach). Barring a lucky punch from Tyson hitting him square on the jaw, I think Bruce would have a better chance at winning in a real no rules fight. In a boxing match Tyson would win hands down.

all you people who say Bruce lee ,are freakin retarded , and live in fantasy movie land. Bruce Lee was a great martial artist , but there is a difference between a martial artist , and a FIGHTER! , not only that a pro -undisputed fighter, who out weighs Bruce lee by about 100 pnds. Bruce Lee practiced the martial arts in order to stay healthy, and enlightened. Tyson just fought in order to knock other ****** the F out. that was his profession, and he was one of the best at it! hands down Tyson , sri Bruce Lee if it was a class act contest you would win hands down.

Bruce Lee. Mike Tyson can't even scream like a girl right so what the heck would he do against Bruce Lee?

Out of all the "Who would win" questions, this is the hardest to answer. Normally boxers lose against masters of other arts. However, Mike Tyson had a rep for being a fantastic all around fighter. Which is how he was discovered and trained. His weight speed combo would have most likely been too much for a 130 lbs Bruce Lee. It would have been a good one.

to everybody who said tyson because he was a "real" fighter is wrong... bruce would street fight all the time. while walking down the streets he would get challenged all the time cuz he was teaching china's private teachings to the americans. also, while mike tyson may have had better punching power then bruce lee, bruce lee could kick so hard he could break a heavy bag (remember, legs are stronger and longer then arms). not only that remember, jkd teaches punching, kicking, trapping, and GRAPPLING!!! are you telling me bruce lee is not smart enough or quick enough to choke tyson out?

Bruce Lee is the winner...

In their primes probably Tyson. He possesed too much size and too much power for Bruce Lee. Yes Lee was probably faster (although Tyson was VERY fast, especially for a heavyweight) and much more well rounded, but he was also about 100lbs. smaller. That's just too much size to give up.

Besides as Bruce Lee himself said, "with a year of boxing and wrestling, you can beat any martial artist."

"Normally boxers lose against masters of other arts."

What the hell kinda drugs are you on!? Name one instance when a boxer has ever lost to a karateka or Kung fu fighter. If that is true tell me why in the 80's professional karate implimented a mandatory minimum kick rule after boxers started competing and owning all the "martial artists"? Why when China sent a team of kung fu guys to Thailand to fight a seriies of matches with thai boxers (I know not exactly the same but very similar) did the thai boxers not only win every fight but do it in dominating fashion???

If Bruce Lee were to fight Mike Tyson, Bruce Lee would win. He's more experienced, has better skills and is deadly. Mike Tyson doesn't control his emotions, therefore, he'd loose.
