What is your neighborhood's signature foods? I live in Baltimore and ours are blue crabs seasoned with old bay and ate with beer.

I've lived in Houston, Austin, and Dallas, Texas (still in Dallas). If you take a road trip to a small town, and you find a tiny little diner to have lunch or dinner at, you'd be nuts not to order chicken fried steak. In Texas, this means a cube steak (or other cheap cut of meat) that is breaded and fried with cream gravy (and of course served with mashed potatoes, green beans, and peach cobbler with Blue Bell ice cream for dessert).

If you're ever near Houston, you must visit Round Top, and be sure to ask to say hi to Royer, the owner and chef. :)

In Connecticut, if anything, it seems to be small Italian pizza places with thin crust pizza, cooked in a wood or coal-fired oven. Every place has their own secret sauce recipe. This is particularly true in New Haven. People wait for HOURS to get into Pepe's pizza (and it's certainly worth it). Needless to say, we don't have a lot of Domino's or Pizza Huts around here.

Otherwise, anything Italian. The cannoli are particularly good.

Well, it's not technically my neighborhood, but my city (Toledo) is known for being the home of Tony Packo's hot dogs.
I guess our signature food would be the MOAD (Mother of All Dogs). It's a huge hot dog with the works - chili sauce, onions, relish, cheese, mustard, kraut, etc. (everything but the kitchen sink).
Most people here love dogs, brats, polish sausages and the like.

I recently moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and around here it's Pasties (pronounced PAST ees). Kind of a cross between a pot pie and a Hot Pocket but bigger. They're kinda weird.

I'm in San Diego, CA. Mexican food is everywhere, especially the 'bertos (robertos, alibertos, adalbertos, etc.) taquerias (taco shops) that have some sort of 'bertos in the name that offer rolled tacos (taquitos). There's nothing like 3 rolled tacos with guacamole after a night of drinking.

One of the big things here in Rochester, NY is garbage plates. Basically it's a plate with burgers (or hot dogs or both), baked beans, mac salad, fries and hot sauce all mixed together. It's really messy and actually looks pretty gross, but they are sooo good!

I live in Tampa, FL, and the local favorites are grouper sandwiches (fried, blackened or grilled) or stone crab claws when in season.

I live in Hyderabad,India.An all time favourite dish here is "Kitchidi" this is a combination rice & red lentil dish,traditionally served with standard side dishes of mince,Popadums & chutney,great when served hot,but nice evn if it cools.
