Better for the kids to get the stupidity out of the way before getting behind the wheel? Or taught that drinking isnt something to fear if done responsibly? Just wondering what others think.....Husband and Wife with difference of opinion...Go figure...lol

I definitely agree with Germany!!! I was born there and lived there for 5 years because my dad was in the army... I wish I would've been able to stay! Drinking should not be made such a taboo as it is in the U.S. That just makes kids go nuts and want to drink so much more. Since it's not acceptable here, kids are sneaking around getting into trouble drinking. In cultures where drinking is more acceptable, kids can learn to enjoy alcohol responsibly with their parents and will then be more responsible when drinking for the rest of their lives. Driving is a big privilege, and I think the driving age should be 18!!! When you're 16 it's a competition amongst friends; who gets their license first, who gets a car... And kids race around on the streets and show off when they get their license so young. America is backwards! Germany has their head on straight...

In the U.S. there is already a high rate of teen-age drunkeness. I think a lower age would just make it worse.

I like the idea of the "kids" getting their driver's license when they are still under parental supervision. Where I live the public bus system is not very good. For any kid to have an after school job or do after school activiites, the parents have to do the driving unless the kis has a driver's license.

I think that driving should come before drinking. Yet, they should be speard a couple years apart, so they don't do it at the same time. What I think is really stupid, though, is that kids in America can go off to war at 18, get their appendages blown off, and have to wait more years to have a drink!!! This country's government is too controlling.

Thoughts?

I LIVED IN EUROPE FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS AND TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS, YOU HAVE TO LET THE STUPID KIDS FIND THEIR TOLERANCE OF ALCHOL BEFORE YOU ALLOW EM TO DRIVE,

AND HERE IS THE MAIN POINT,

SO HYPOTHETICALLY IF THE LAW WAS FOLLOWED THIS IS WHAT WOULD HAPPEN...
A KID LEARNS TO DRIVE AT THE AGE OF 16 RIGHT? WE LET'S SAY HE NEVER DRINKS A DROP UNTILL HIS 21ST BIRTHDAY, HE'LL TAKE A BUNCH OF SHOTS AND A FEW BEERS AND HOPS INTO HIS CAR TO DRIVE HOME A FEW MINUTES LATER THE BOOZE KICKS IN AND HE CRASHES HIS CAR IN TO A SCHOOL BUS....LOL BUT SERIOUSLY THAT WOULD BE A VERY LIKELY SENERIO
IF ALL OF THE KIDS OUT THERE DIDNT BREAK THE DRINKING LAWS RIGHT NOW

i lived in europe for awhile before i was 21 and being able to go out and drink was really no big deal there; i guess it's the culture you grow up in.
i guess when you're allowed to do something for years, it becomes normal and almost mundane, so the chances of over-indulging is reduced.
