my boyfriend wants a tattoo of his name in chinese, is there any websites that will translate it for you?

No website is flawless. Especially when translating into languages such as Chinese, which are radically different than English - it is not unknown for people to have nonsense tattooed on them because of poor translation. I'd say your better asking a Chinese friend, or perhaps a Chinese person in a Chinese restaurant. Just remember to be polite about it.

Frank shouldn't be too hard to find in Chinese. Ah! it wouldn't be Frank but the sound of it as it is posible to write in hanzi (Chinese characters) (kanji is the Japanese for 'Chinese character.') if he doesn't already have a chinese name (one that was given to him), he's not magically going to have a chinese name. names from different cultures aren't "translatable". how would you translate the Chinese name, Jing, for example? You can't; you can only write out "jing" as the phoenetic spelling.

Chinese characters are written with radicals that each symbolize something; furthurmore each character used to make up a pheonetic translation already has its own meaning attached. It's better if he just has his name tattooed in his own language. For example, a girls name "Sharon" in english would be pheoneticall translated into Chinese as "sher-lon". the character used to write "sher" would be either "blood" or "snow", and the character used to write "lon" would maybe be "wheel". Plus, other chinese people wouldn't really know what they're looking at. it really makes me quirk my eyebrows everytime i see people with their name supposedly written in chinese, because in actuality it looks just awkward and funny.

"frank" cant be translated, except as the answerers above suggested, broken into the gutteral syllables, and "reinterpreted" as meaningful words

however, i think its better to just get the kanji, representing a value that ur bf wants to emulate (like strength,honor,etc.)
