Uncle Thesis - if Christians treated the Bible like a legal document then none of them would believe the mess.

Because Biblical literalism is largely a concept that came after the Protestant "Reformation."

You know, I've never been any kind of Christian, but it sure seems like the Catholic church was right when it said that letting the common unwashed masses interpret the bible for themselves would lead to nonsensical interpretations of the Bible.

Jesus never disobeyed His parents. If you refer to Him being found in the Temple teaching, there is still no reference to His disobedience. He was not with the caravan, perhaps of 300, including animals. Is was not unusual that others would also care for the children. When Mary and Joseph discovered that He was not with them, they returned and found Him. I still do not see any reference to disobedience.

Perhaps, you are reading what you want into the Bible?

He did not disobey. His parents misplaced him. They assumed he was with other relatives ithe group. That is clearly written. Also, not written but implied, his parents had taught him the mosaic law and did a good job of it for those in the temple were amazed at his understanding of the law. That part is also written.

Also we know, as eldest son with other brothers and sisters (also written) he would have had responsibilities as the oldest and needed to help his father in his business of carpenter. (implied)

We know qualities of his personality stayed with him from his prehuman existence, as a human, and after his resurrection back to a spirit creature. One thing was obedience, another was as "a master worker".(Proverbs 8: 30) A master worker does things well and effienciently. So no, Jesus was not disobedient.

He didn't disobey. They didn't say, "don't go to the temple".

Anyway, it's not that children disobeyed. You got stoned for cursing your parents. I think it's unreasonable to stone a child over a small failing. And I'm pretty sure the Bible backs me up on this.

Where does it say to stone a child for a single act of disobedience.

18 If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard." 21 Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.
________

When, exactly, did Jesus disobey?

Thanks.

Tis a good thing you're not a lawyer.
I guess the key word is 'disobey'.
Did he?
Were you there?
Did you hear both sides?
Was there cause for clemency?
