So long as he is drinking adequate amounts of fluids, he should be okay. You can tell he's getting enough fluids by how many wet diapers he has per day. It's often hard to tell if his diapers are wet with all that extra poo...but a good average would be between 4 and 6 wet (but not sopping) diapers per day (+ or -). Also, does he have drool? In other words, is his mouth wet? Does his skin look soft and not dry? Eyes bright and not sunken? Is he still vomiting?

For now, my biggest suggestion would be not to worry too much about what he eats but to make sure he's drinking. If he's still vomiting, give him small sips every few minutes to keep it all down. If he's not vomiting, then let him drink. Avoid overly sugary drinks (like pop) and dilute his juice by at least half if not more. Water is the best but if you can get anything into him, that's great. You can also try Pedialyte, popsicles, jello or chicken soup. You can give him small amounts of milk if he wants, but try to limit it. No more than 20 oz per day.

As for food...keep offering it to him. Easy to eat, finger foods are ideal. Crackers, toast and banana are great. You can even try small amounts of his favourite meats and soft cooked veggies.

Also...watch the skin on his little bottom. Frequent diarrhea can irritate big time. A good barier cream like Zincofax helps to protect.

Be patient...if this is a virus, he'll be feeling better soon. So long as he looks okay, is acting normally and is drinking adequately, try not to worry too much.

Don't worry too much about him not eating. Fluids are the most important thing. If at any point in time if he stops drinking fluids then worry. I took my son to the ER since it was the weekend and he had to have an IV through his head since all of his veins were collapsed. He was drinking so I waited, so it might be a good idea to put electolytes in his drinks and stay away from juice it'll make the loose stools worse. If he won't drink water give him gatoraide

My doctor told me that has long has they keep drinking they will be alright for two to three days without eating. The best thing for you to do though is to go buy some pedalite. I know you said that he won't eat but maybe if you could try some applesauce or yogurt, the yogurt would be the best though because it helps with diarrhea. The doctors also tell me to mainly when they are sick like yours because my daughter goes though this a lot is to feed them diary products and pastas like mac and cheese. Well I hope that helped you out a little! Good luck with your son!

Kids act like this when they have a stomach bug. My kids were the same - they'd barf their brains out, then get up and start running around laughing, like nothing was wrong! They're very resillient and deal wtih illnesses better than us!

Anyways, as long as he is drinking fluids and keeping them down, he'll be fine. Don't worry about the solids. Keeping him hydrated is the key concern. When he's feeling better, he'll go back to eating solids. Good luck, and hope he feels better soon!

stop pushing all food/fluids. Give him 1 sip (YES!) of water every 5 minutes until he can hold it down for 1 hour (the vomiting is destructive to his system and is making him feel worse). Once he can hold it down for 1 hour you can start him on the BRAT diet

B- Bananas
R- Rice
A- Applesauce (not Juice as this will increase the diarhea)
T- Toast and/or Tea

This mild diet will help settle his stomach and keep his nutrition in check. Give it a few days and it will pass... just go easy on him!!

My son had same symptoms and we took him in for an upper GI and his diagnosis was acid reflux that started to cause legions on his throat. The sores were the reason he couldn't eat and the reflux caused the stomach irregularities. The doctor put him on a special diet and special reflux med. for infants. The reason why they don't act as sick as they are is because they are just tougher than adults.

just keep giving him lots offluids, but not milk which will turn hisstomach even faster. Try apple juice and water mixed. If it continues for 3 days, or he starts getting lethargic, then take him back to the doctor. Viruses generally run their course in about 48 hours, then he will be really hungry.

my doctor has always said when my daughter is sick it's not what she eats it's that she eats

give pedialite to drink to keep him hydrated

if he'll eat a chocolate cookie give him a chocolate cookie

aside from all that there is really nothing you can do

since he's throwing up alot just let him run around in just a diaper

oh and if he comes up to you screaming in pain he's probably about to vomit

If he is vomiting, he probably doesn't want to eat because it hurts his stomach. As long as he is getting enough fluids he will be fine. But you should be giving him something like pedialyte to drink rather than just water, because the vomiting and diarrhea will cause him to dehydrate quickly.

sounds like a stomach virus. Just need to ride it out. It's OK if he doesn't eat, but liquids are essential. Give him juice, but add a little bit salt in it. Or give him Gaterade, has all the nutrients he need until he can intake solids again.
