Dear this is pretty much a universal reaction I believe; however, from past talk to some Asian friends it does have some what of a stronger cultural issue. I do think that people of all ethnic groups tend to have some sort of reaction to mixed couples. I think this has to do with a "territorial" reaction. But also it is more common for males to stray from their ethnic group than females, although often not for marriage. No, this is not a fair situation, and I suggest you find someone with whom you are compatible with regardless of ethnic group.

lilmiki, the only Asian guy's who complain about Asian girls dating white guys are the ones who can't get dates from either race. Usually the ones that are dating white women will not criticize you for dating white guys (it would make them pretty bigoted to criticize you for something they are doing themselves.) As for Asian men who date Asian women, I'd say you have a 50% chance of them objecting... because of purely racist principals. Some old world Asian's still believe that you will only do well with your own kind, or other cultures just don't understand your views. Being born in the US I remember relatives that see us westernized Asians as being Bamboo or the younger generations would call us bananas. Both terms meaning that they believe that we've lost our roots, we only look Chinese, but inside, there is no Chinese left. It actually very hurt full to hear someone call you this. So now you don't fit in with the Western world, and you are also shunned from your own culture.
--I actually am over this complex now that I'm older, I've spent many years learning the the history of my culture, customes and languge. I feel comfortable with who I am, and appreciate all aspects of my own culture. You will have to come to grips with this dilemma yourself, and I hope you also find closure with who you are. In the end it doesn't matter what other people think. It only matters that you are happy with who you are. --Good luck, I wish you well.

I didn't know asian american people held these kind of grievances much. Although, I have seen a few asian guys dating white girls, but not many asian girls dating white guys, now that you mention it...
I didn't really know asian families in america had some of the cultural tensions that black people do (you don't see many black men (or women) dating white women (or men) - it's usually frowned upon by their families. Here in the south where I am, I don't think my family would be real fond of me dating a black girl, but I don't think they'd care if I dated an asian one bit.

they complain that asian girls date white man because they think white man are taking over their terrority and that its a win for the white man.. but if an asian guy dates a white girl its a win.. so pretty much its like war.. haha um getting the most area or land meaning different types of girls or i think its like an insult.. i can go on but yeah ill stop here

its the same for every race - everyone has double standards. If your white you complain about asian guys dating the white chicks but would more than happilly date an asian girl.

this is kinda funny because i rarely see asian guys dating outside their race, especially here in LA. but asian women seem to mostly date us white guys instead of their own
