is there ever any circumstance where abortion should be allowed, or should it be completely outlawed? if a woman is raped and becomes becomes pregnant does she have the right to choose? certainly, by your logic the life inside of her is still a life and thus doesn't deserve to be killed. what if a woman is carrying a fetus, and it physically becomes a threat to the woman's life to continue the carrying the fetus? or what if there's a high probability that both the mother and the fetus will die before birth if the pregnancy isn't terminated? do you still continue with the pregnancy? we don't know that they will die, but it is more likely that they will both die than live. what then? if you said abortion was ok in any of these situations, then you're pro-choice as well.

eleventy, you're comparing apples to oranges though. if abortion is murder of an innocent child, you can't make an exception for that, can you?

those that are citing rape or incest being such low percentages of total abortions i think need to be reminded that most incidents of rape and incest go unreported.

furthermore, to those of you throwing out numbers. get me a varifiable number, with a source. not something you got off a pamphlet at a pro-life rally. secondly, even if the number is as high as you state it is, that doesn't give you the right to take someone's choice away. we all have the freedom of speech. however, the majority of people abuse that right. does that mean we should take the right away because the majority abuses it? no.

Everyone clouds the issue with forgetting the life inside of the mother. And all actions have consequences whether good or bad and if you are going to have an abortion then you will accept the responsibility for those actions. Killing a human being is murder... there IS no issue about that. Yes there are hard decisions connected with circumstances. The percentage of abourtions performed because of rape or danger to the mother is extremely low (2-3%) and most women have abortions for convenience. These are the ones that get the pro-lifers upset. You can argue for the what-ifs all day long. The fact that women arent using birth control properly or are just lazy about it or dont know exactly how it works and having sex with out thinking about consequences are who contribute to the 98% having abortions. So killing the baby out of convenience is something that we will all have to reckon with sooner or later. How come none of these women thought about putting up the unwanted baby for adoption.. Oh wait that would take some character...

A child conceived by rape is still an innocent baby. Ever heard of adoption? People wait years to adopt, there aren't enough babies to go around. People are on waiting lists to adopt for years, and they don't care if the baby was a result of rape, they just want to love it and raise it.
If both the mother and baby will definately die if the baby isn't aborted, then that's another matter, but it certainly doesn't make anyone pro-choice, since there isn't a choice. Basically, the percentage of those abortions are very, very slim. Most abortions are simply girls who can't be bothered taking a pill, its just too hard. We live in a society of people who don't want to take the consequences for their own actions, they're simply lazy.

There should be exceptions, of course. You are bringing up good points that require a difficult decision to be made in each. But how many medical problems are there in which the baby MUST be aborted instead of being put in an incubator? Name ONE. As for rape, there are plenty of parents unable to have children who would gladly adopt.
The bottom line is that abortion is NOT a form of birth control as the Pro-Choice camp would lead you to believe.
When my wife was pregnant with my son, she had an ultrasound 11 weeks into the term. After only 11 weeks there was a baby in the womb sucking his thumb, squirming around, kicking his legs, and basically acting like a BABY HUMAN BEING.
The Pro-Choice camp doesn't want you to see those images, nor the ones of the aftermath of an abortion, and certainly not the grisly ones of the actual procedure as the baby is struggling as he/she is being murdered. But those images are simply the TRUTH. The Pro-Choicers want to hide from the TRUTH, which makes their position utterly indefensible and wrong.
If you or I were aborted, we wouldn't be here, we'd be DEAD. People who believe in abortions on demand are either ignorant of the truth, brainwashed, or just plain sick. The first 2 groups need to be informed, the latter should be locked up. Abortions rates are plummeting, so the truth is getting out.

You could make the moral argument that abortion to save the life of the mother is "justifiable homicide" akin to self-defense and many pro-lifers will agree.
But instead of intentionally killing the child, why not bring the child to viability and then deliver? If the child dies because he/she was pre-mature, you have not actively murdered the baby.
Really though, the "life of the mother" scenario is really not the greatest percentages of abortions. Those come in the first tri-mester from women who don't want to be pregnant -they are often teens, single women, women using abortion as a form of "after-the-fact" birth control.

You people really don't think a mother would resent a rape baby? You think the kid would grow up normal if it knew what it was? I would never force a woman to have that. It is her choice no matter what but that one is just cruel.
Did you know husbands parents and grandparent can sue the woman for emotional distress if she gets an abortion now? Let's throw that in there.
There have been millions or rapes aborted. Millions. Yes it is a small percentage and it shows how many abortions there are but it is millions.

Will you make up your mind!
If I say yes, like in the case of the mother's life being in mortal danger, you think I'm pro-choice. No! I'm still pro-life, but I do care about the life of the mother as well. And look it up. Of the thousends of girls having an abortion in America, a very small percentage is from rape, incest and health problems.
I am not pro-choice, I will never be pro-choice. If I side with the mother, that doesn't make me pro-choice. I am pro-life, now and forever. Your silly idea that how I answer is going to change me failed.

(sigh) No exceptions, no killing. This would be akin to saying its OK to lie - just a little, or to steal in certain circumstances. Circumstances are not ours to choose...so we do not get a choice in this. We made the choice (most likely) before a child was conceived.
No...in the case of rape there was no choice...which is why I put 'most likely' beside the comment. :)

Abortion is murder.......I don't care what the situation is
Look....if it's a choice between the mother dying or the baby....then I'm sure 99.99% of people would choose to abort at that point......
But other than that......it is murder....it is the taking of an innocent life and should be made illegal

There are always exceptions to the rule. This is like saying we shouldn't have speeding limits because a woman might be in labor and need to get to the hospital quickly.
True, they are different but the point I'm trying to get across is we should avoid it as much as possible, but there are circumstances when it is unavoidable for the health of the mother.
