You should never check someone else's voicemail or call history or read their messages. It's an invasion of privacy. Unless someone has given you express permission to check for a specific message, you should never do this, and you should encourage them to change their password directly after.
I suppose some girls would permit this as a sign of trust and openness towards their boyfriends, but I think it's unnecessary. Trusting someone means you realize it's okay that they have secrets that you don't know about, or have a life apart from you, because you trust them not to do anything that would hurt you or betray your relationship. I would think any guy who would ask to check his girlfriend's messages, or insist on it, or go snooping through her phone without her knowledge, is either very insecure or very controlling, or both.

Yes! After all your girl or boy friend should be the closest person among all ur friends, and the only one u share ur secretes with.

And u can't hide text messages from somebody u share ur secretes with. Can u?

Anyone who has something to hide or keep from u is not worth trusting.

Sure it is if they're insecure and jealous. Which later means that they are abusive. There is no reason for them to go through your phone unless you've given them a reason.
Girls are not ok with it but they are too afraid to say anything because they might lose him.

It isn't normal. It is a sign of mistrust. The idea of "I have nothing to hide" is like saying "I don't need any privacy at all." It also means that person is ok with their biyfriend or girlfriend or whoever not trusting them.

Clear sign of insecurity in a guy. it seems that a good number of girls don't seem to realize this.

this sort of behavior has a very real possibility of escalating to something serious. IT IS NOT part of a healthy relationship.

No it is not normal, nor should it be acceptable. However many girls put up with it because it allows them to do the same thing to their boyfriends.

It's only normal if you suspect your girl/boy of cheating. So if you do suspect this then ask first. if they make an issue of this then they may truly have something to hid. If you absolutely trust the person and don't think they would cheat, and you check it anyways, then you may have insecurity issues that you need to work on.

It's somewhat normal. I'm nosy so I might look through a guys phone in front of him, but I know if it really bothers him or he feels disrespected I won't do it
