it is very difficult for us to transmit signals at low frequency becoz the loses r high and the antena length required is too large to construct so we need to modulate the signals with a carrier signal just to transmit the signals over say long distances

Modulation is what adds information to signal. A straight carrier with no modulation doesn't contain any information. So, for instance, an FM radio station modulates the frequency based on the content of the music. AM radio modulates the amplitude.

Modulation is the manipulation of radio signals to allow it to carry audio or digital information.

You cant transmit evrything ( particularly low frequency audio or video signals ) without much loss and range limitation.
So you mix i.e. modulate it on electromagnetic waves.
The signal is decoded ( Demodulated) at reciever end and you get crisp and clear signal over there.

MODULATION IS SPECIFICALLY A NEED OF EVERY SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY. MODULATION IS NECESSARY FOR TRANSMISSION OF ANY BROADCASTING LIKE ANY INFORMATION FROM RADIO. THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF MODULATION'S THEY ARE FREQUENCY AND AMPITUDE MODULATION'S. EVEN FOR TRANSMISSION OF T.V., WAVES ALSO MODULATION'S PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE

it basically used when a signal has to be transmitted over a long distance.if modulation is not used a signal may die out quickly or may prone to interference.it also helful in encrypying the data.
