This is the fundamental racist belief which makes co-existance so difficult. Even if God where to give the whole world to the Ishmaelites as an inheritance, the Israelites would not accept it and would work day and night to take it away believing that they are the chosen and promised descendant.....

Is'mail (Ishmael) was the son of Ibrahim (Abraham) by Hagar, the woman given to him by the pharoah. He later had another son (Isaac) by his wife Sarah.

I don't know why anyone wouldn't think that Is'mail wasn't his son..

I believe Jews and Christians understand that Ishmaelites are descendants of Abraham. However, we don't believe that God gave the whole word to Ishmaelites as an inheritance.

Both the jews and muslims agree that the arab people are ishmaelites and descendents of Ishmael and therefore Abraham.

The problem is who is the rightful heir to palestine and Jerusalem. Both claim to be, and both have equal claim. I personally believe East Jerusalem should be arab palestinian, while the west is isreali. That is the root problem, as Israel wants the whole of palestine (illegally), while the palestinian president wants just east jerusalem, the west bank and the gaza strip.

Erm. You have that a wee bit backwards. The descendents of Isaac want to be able to live in peace, without threat of property confiscation or pogrom. If we have to have our own country to do so, so be it. There aren't many of us. Give us what we need and you can have the rest.

It's the sons of Ishmael who have never ceased trying to take that small bit of land from us. It's the Arab League of Nations that refused to accept half of Palestine (after 7/8ths had became Transjordan) as an Arab state simply because it required them to recognize a Jewish state. Ninety percent of Palestine was to be Arab. How was that not enough?

First Ishmaelites isn't a word. Second Prophet Ishmael(PBUH*) is the first born son of Prophet Ibrahim(PBUH*) so he has more rights to Palestine then Issac(PBUH*) because Issac(PBUH*) is the second born son. ALLAH has said in the Qur'an that He gave Palestine and the rest of the Arab world to the descendants of Prophet Ibrahim(PBUH*) meaning Ishmael's(PBUH*) descendants. Issac(PBUH*) is the father of the Jewish people and Ishmael(PBUH*) is the father of the Arabs. It all comes to down to first born. Ishmael(PBUH*) was the first born of Ibrahim(PBUH*). Muslims recognize this fact. The Jews and Christians who changed the Injeel and Torah try to spread lies and say something different because they don't have the original Torah and Injeel. And it is not a fundamentalist racist belief. It is the truth. It is the will of ALLAH Almighty that Palestinians have rights through Prophet Ibrahim's(PBUH*) firstborn son Ismael(PBUH*). If you read the Qur'an you would know this. May ALLAH guide you to the Straight Path and all the Non Muslims to the Straight Path. Ameen. And yes I am American Muslim.

The root problem is that Abraham did not do as God wanted. He had sex with a woman that was not his wife and so was born Ishmael. Racism has nothing to do with it. Wake up.

Satan laughs to this day at the tricks he played on Eve and Sarah - and how their disobedient husbands listened to them instead of what God had directed.

Men - stand up and do as God says. When those around you agree, and when they don't. (that includes your wife)

No. The root problem in the middle east is too many people for too few resources, combined with intolerance, women treated not any better than cows, a history of violence, and a religion that strangles the thoughts of people...

"In every village there is a torch -- the teacher, and an extinguisher-- the clergy"

Victor Hugo

For sure all of these have been part of the problems in the middle east

Anyone who reads the Bible knows they are the sons of Abraham by Hagar the Egyptian servant girl. It's just that Abrahams other son Isaac got the promise of owning Israel. He was the son of Sarah.

Well, the fact is that it is Christians that are the descendents of Abraham, as Believers have always been a mixed multitude of ethnic backgrounds. Both the Arabs and Jews have a skewed take on that covenant.
