Depends on the person...
They all have side effects... All of them are equally as bad, counter productive and counter intuitive to the reason you started taking them to begin with...
Sexual side effects and weight gain being the most common. Go figure... No one wants to sleep with a crazy, fat, sexually numb and un responsive person now do they?
and look what it does to the few who decide to go ahead and have sex and get pregnant anyway... Horribly malformed and disfigured babies being born to mothers on Paxil.
Cleans up the gene pool of the nut jobs huh? Rings of an air of Hitler's medical experimentation's on the Jews if you ask me...
Things that make you go... Hmmmm?
Welcome to the wonderful world of medication...

I can only tell you what happened to me since everyone is different. I took Zoloft years ago and eventually got up to 200/mgs a day. I took it for a year or so. It never really worked for me. I was still crazy, had terrible 'episodes' and felt depressed most of the time. My only side effects were complete loss of interest in sex and slight weight gain. I weaned myself off of it (not a good idea) but I didn't have any problems at all. I felt exactly the same after I got off the drug for the next few years.
I take Lexapro now with no side effects whatsoever and I've lost 10 lbs since I'm more active. The Lexapro works well for me (30 mgs) so for me, they are completely different meds. Lexapro alone does not help enough with my anxiety/panic attacks. I took Ativan but I got addicted to it. I was switched to Klonopin and have yet to develop an addiction and it works well.

I just switched from Lexapro and back to Zoloft. I had some GI problems on Zoloft before but it worked so well, I am giving it another shot.
I was on Zoloft for 5-6 years and had few side effects. I also take them for anxiety disorders.
They are 2 totally different drugs and you may experience side effects but not likely the same ones. It's a matter of deciding what you can tolerate. I didn't have any side effects from Lexapro, but it also didn't work as well for me as others have in the past.
Effexor was a good one, but I decided to go off of it entirely and the withdrawal was pretty bad.
I will take ssri's forever, it keeps me (somewhat) anxiety free.

No, I was on Zoloft for a while and the only side effect that I remember was lack of libido. With the Lex, there were a few more side effects but I tolerated them for a couple weeks and now they have passed.
Also Zoloft worked great for about three months for me and then I turned into a "Zombie". But everyones different...give it a try. They are not the same.
By the way....Dont listen to the idiot above me. People like her think they now everything there is to know and that everyone should live like them....and everyone is the same...The TRUTH is that meds HELP millions of people more than they hurt.......everyday. Some folks just have a bad experience, and cant let it go!!

There are no bad effects from zoloft I take it with wellburturen, for anxiety. I take it same time daily. Once it is at the level in your system, you will start to feel better. Zoloft is great as far as I am concerned I take 100mg daily. If really stressed take 2 for short time. Per doctor my body tells me.

for me zoloft had the worst side effects. I had to quit taking it after a week because I was soooo nauseated, light headed, breaking out into sweats. It was horrible!!! Plus you don't want an SSRI, the worst to wean off of. Once I stopped taking the zoloft I was still sick for another week because it takes 5 to 6 days to be completely out of your system.

No it does not. stick with Lexapro or better yet try Cymbalta. it is a great drug works on 2 receptors in the brain, not just 1.

There is no 'right' answer. Since everyone is slightly different biologically it is impossible to know. But most antidepressants cause side effects. Some serious and some not. The only way to know how you'll react is to try one. If you are concerned about the side effects you might want to try a natural alternative treatment for anxiety such as Panicyl, Clarocet, or Relora. These can work very well without side effects or risk of addiction and withdrawal.
