I donated my 16th pint of blood last Monday (4/16). I was just curious how long I need to wait until it is safe to lift weights again.

Typically, you need to wait 24 hours before doing any strenuous exercise, but I would give myself 2 - 3 days & lots of fluids before any serious weight lifting.
And...congrats on donating. Every donation saves 3 lives!
(I used to draw blood for the Red Cross).

Take the day off that you donated. Try a light workout the following day and see how you feel. If you don't get lightheaded and feel like you might faint, go ahead and go back to your normal routine the second day after donating. I would guess that 24 hours will be enough rest is you are an otherwise healthy person. Just be careful, maybe get a spot for weight that you can normally do on your own for a day or two. You don't want to pass out while doing squats.

I have done a heavy lifting session after 8 hours. It all depends on how much nutrition/water you intake and how healthy you are. If you question whether or not you should hit the weights, then it's best to follow the direction of the general public. A beast will do what a beast does. Nothing a little blood volumizer supplement can't handle. ;)

they say weight 24 hours to go anything strenuous. Like sawyer said you should wait about 3 to 4 days before you start to lift weights again. Fluids will be your best friend and also dont forget to eat right!

Congrats on your saving of lives!!

Call the American Red Cross and ask them. My guess would be to wait at least a week or so before you start lifting weights again.

they should have given you a small card with the do's and don't's after donating. mine says "the remainder of the day". I'd wait 24 hours at least.
