That was an answer to my last question.

Why is it OK to let a child live in the foster care system, but not OK to abort an unwanted pregnancy?

Apparently, this "unadoptable" child is not wanted.

Gabbi, that's not what I'm saying at all. Pro-lifer's state that abortion is wrong, people are always wanting to adopt. That's a lie, there are many kids who never have a home. Apparently, they are unwanted even by those who would change the laws to outlaw abortion.

Quantril...I understand the point of adoption. I salute those who open their hearts and homes to the less adoptable kids. They are the true heroes of the world.

People are hyper-concerned about the welfare of fetuses all the way up to the point that they are delivered. Then they're on their own.

This is an unsubstantiated question. Is it not fair to say that most "unwanted" babies are adopted quickly. Therefore, wouldn't it be fair to say that many if not most children in foster care are a result of some other circumstance (ie abuse, drug addicted parents, etc) So, why would you think these children do not have the right to life that you and I have? If you look back in history, you will find many brilliant people that rose from the life as an orphan. Just because a child's biological parent is irresponsible enough to not prevent pregnancy, the child should suffer the ultimate cost of death? I think not. I am not pro-life or pro-choice, but I think this question is silly and not well-thought or researched.

If the child did not become unwanted until they were 6, what is the chances the mother would have had an abortion in the first place?

Silly question, those are two different situations and problems. I imagine very few mothers say to themselves, "Since I can't have an abortion, I am going to keep the baby until it gets 7 years old and then put it up for adoption"

Peace!

It is a huge shame that children older then a couple of years have little chance of adoption. I think you are missing the point of adoption as an alternative a baby put up for adoption will be adopted almost instantaneously. I am not speaking for or against abortion here (I am rather split on the issue) just stating the facts of adoption.

People who have no children and have tried to conceive and been disappointed time after time long for a baby to cuddle. There is nothing wrong with that.

There is also nothing wrong with someone not wanting to adopt children with special needs. It takes a wonderful and almost saintly person to take on that kind of responsibility.

I do not condone abortion for birth control purposes...contraceptives are widely available.

I agree that in the case of mother health or rape, they should be performed legally and with all the best medical and counseling treatment available.

That is not entirely true. My parents adopted me when I was six, and my brother was five. I plan to adopt someday, and when I do, I plan to adopt a child who is six or older. I know people who have adopted teenagers. A lot of times, a child is unadoptable because the birth parents will not take care of them, but are too selfish to allow the child to be adopted by people who would love them.

It's the puppy syndrome. People love puppies until they get them home and they get a little older then it's not so cute anymore and off to the pound they go. Same thing with kids. They're all for babies until they get a bit too old and aren't so cute.

This tragedy is real. I volunteer for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. There are a LOT of unwanted kids out there. I've seen them cry because they feel unloved.

An abortion usually does not kill a child, it removes cells. Late term are not good, in my opinion, but I would never make that decision for another woman.

Not me, I want older kids. The ones who are already potty-trained and eating solid foods. Babies are cute, but I can't handle babies. I can handle kids. And I do plan on adopting.

Why are so many people getting to the point that they need to abort? or give their kids up for adoption?
Use birth control, or don't screw around.
Abortion is not birth control.

if I ever adopt, I'm going for a kid over ten. I've got two of my own, had my baby time, and diapers and learning the word "no" are overrated
