I think the problem is, guns are a great way to prevent gay marriage. So... people are reluctant to change the rules since it kills (pardon the pun) two birds with one stone

taking guns away will never work, people are constantly circumventing the laws we already have. We have to get rid of the hatred in order to make the world a safer place, and prejudice against gays is not helping

Taking away the guns from people who own them legally to protect themselves from those who own them illegally and sometimes legally would be a crime.
We all have the right to protect ourselves, and taking away legally own guns from people just because a few used them for hurting the innocent would be incredibly stupid.
