Why would you ask something like this?

You know that other people can see this question its on a thing called the interent and ANYONE can see it.

Dont ask questions that some dumbass private might be prone to post something he shouldnt. Like lets say a person post something like "yea they have magical fairy bombs that can penetrate any vehicle" then the enemy would know what to use and what this vehicle is weak against.

Dont underestimate the power of a stupid private.

And no there arent any "fairy bombs" i am using something retarded that no one can get info from.

Nothing works 100% every time. Unaccounted for variations will reduce the effectiveness of nearly anything. An explosion that is more powerful than expected, impurities or stresses in the metal the armor is made of or any number of other things can cause failure of such a device.

While I'm not sure if Cougars can deflect a blast (I would assume so, as it's new) it is my understanding that the government instituted some sort of mandatory upgrade to all such vehicles currently in use (over a specific number of years) and that all new models being built had to have some form of blast deflection integrated into it's design. Of course we all know how slow the government is to actually get around to doing things.

From what I've heard, they can handle much, much more then Humvees. I don't think anyone has died from a blast yet while in a Cougar. So I would say they could handle most IEDs.

They are projected to work better in some scenarios and about the same in others. There is no way to have a light utility vehicle like a hummer be 100% resistent to IED attack.

It depends on the size of the IED. Some are equal to 2,000 lbs bombs and no vehical is going to stop those.
