I already have two 9mth old Norwegian Forest Cats, but I didn't have a job when they were younger. Now I want more kitties, but will 2 young kittens be okay on their own? will they get bullied by my other cats?
If it makes any difference, I want to get another NFC and a Somali cat.

Yes...that's fine...cats are pretty self sufficient...as long as you give them lots of love when you are home!!! BTW cats usually sleep all day anyway...

It definitely would not be fair. I'm sure you have a good home but why would you get kittens if you are not there to enjoy and care for them? Why would you deprive young animals the opportunity of a good home then leave them alone all day? They may as well be in a cattery. Firstly even at 12 weeks young kittens need 3-4 meals a day and you are not home to do this. Kittens are inquisitive and can get into difficulties while you are away all day, they can get trapped behind radiators, get caught up on things or climb curtains and furniture and fall. In the event of an accident you would not be about for several hours to help which could be fatal. With this in mind you would have to restrict their movements while you are at work and confining them all day is not fair. You have two already who need your attention on your return from work, they could gang up and bully new ones or feel pushed out themselves, unfortunately you are not around to keep an eye on this. It really would be kinder to leave the kittens for someone who can devote the daytime with them they need and wait until you have less commitments before taking on very young animals. You could always consider having 2 adult cats whose history makes them compatible with your established cats. I suspect you already know the answer to your question is that its not fair.
I hope this helps you to make the right decision.

Cats enjoy human companionship, but what people need to realize is cats are NOT emotionally DEPENDENT on human companionship to be happy.

Cats do not mind being left alone, especially if they have a playmate. But they will be happy when you DO come home

don't feel guilty about it. It won't bother them a bit

until you know for SURE how your bigger cats treat the kittens, then I would consider keepng them seperate while you're at work. Keep the kittens in one or two connected rooms, and keep the bigger cats away. Let them all together when you're home. JUST until you see how the bigger ones treat the little guys.
Adult cats usually accept a "baby" without many problems. Now another, strange Adult... they might have issues with that.

Should be fine.

My Partner and I both work full time. We got 2 kittens a year ago and have had no problems at all. If you were only getting 1 then i would say reconcider, but 2 will keep each other company while you are out. I have been very lucky indeed with my 2 and am sure that you will as well. As for your other cats, getting 2 kittens will be much easier than getting adults as they will start to nurture them and the 2 you already have are quite young and will except them quickly. Good luck and lucky you! my boyfriend wont let me have anymore :(

It's fine to get kittens so long as they have other company, which is how you are already set up. I wouldn't leave the kittens alone unattended with the older cats, since it's possible for them to either get bullied or accidentally get played with too roughly. But you can leave the two little ones alone together in a separate room until you get home and they'll be fine.

Well, I wouldn't recommend getting two kittens unless you could have some time to play with them and spend time.

I have two kittens and I'm a college student who works, so I'm busy too. They're brother and sister and I couldn't be more grateful that I got them that way. They are able to play together and keep each other company when I'm gone. In the evening I devote time to play with them and give them loving any chance I can get. If you devote a certain time, then it should be fine.

I would keep an eye on the kittens and the full grown cats to make sure they don't hurt each other accidentally or get in fights. Maybe when you're gone, seperate the kittens to a safe room in the house just as a precaution.

The kitty throwing up after having water can no longer wait till Friday. If he maintains at this %., you will choose misplaced him with the aid of then. in case you truly won't be able to discover the money for a vet, please return him to the animal shield so he can get some scientific interest. Any threat he ate some thing he do not have? ought to probable have a distant places merchandise in there or possibly a abdomen trojan horse. possibly a vet will participate now and section later. Or some vets settle for CareCredit in case you qualify for a credit card. in case you could no longer discover the money for the vet, please do no longer waste funds on Royal Canin. that's overestimated stuff. If funds is tight, purchase some Friskies canned nutrition and which would be adequate. in case you desire to function dry nutrition later, inspect Purina previous. yet canned nutrition is maximum suitable for youthful kittens. solid success! playstation - interior the destiny please get interior the habit of placing aside $5 or $10 from each and every pay examine. this would bypass right into a definite emergency fund for the cats. next time some thing comes up, you would be arranged :)

I would wait and get additional kittens during a vacation, when you will be home for them, and can monitor how they are getting along with their housemates. We got a kitten about a year and a half ago, and unfortunately, the older cat never did get along... Any time we were gone for more than a weekend, we had to take the younger one with us in order to make sure things didn't go to heck in a hand-basket while we were gone. Our older cat was sick, and I believe that had something to do with her feeling threatened by the new cat, but any time we were gone more than a day or two, things were knocked over and one or the other was "in hiding" when we got home (not to mention seriously annoyed with us!)

Good luck!

2 kittens will be fine hun even males as long as there both same age so they can grow up together, best to get them over a weekend to settle them in rather then just getting them one night then going to work next day,
as long as the litter tray is near, they have food and water and a few toys they will be fine, but you will need to keep other cats separate for a fortnight until they get used to each other but ONLY around you

kittens sleep all day anyway so they wont have time to miss you

kittens are lovely and fluffy and playful so make sure you have time to play with them at nights

good luck

the kittens wont even know your gone they will be having a ball(my cat had 6 kittens) so don't even stress about that, if your older cats are bullying them now they will when your gone, but if they are sweet with them they will be totally fine when your at work. Cats as you know are different to dogs they sleep all day anyway, the more the merrier

It will be kind of hard for the kittens because they will be bullied by the others and they need someonne to take care of them like a cat would. They need your love but you can spend some days with them and make sure that everything is ok with the other cats if not don't you dare take them bak to the pet shop it is cruel you will have to make some sacrifices for them and if you don't have time why do you take them in the first place? Think carefuly it is a big responcibility and you will need time and patience.
