My friend was involved in a small accident happened in traffic hour; there is only minor dent and scratch damage to her car and the parties involved exchanged info and left the scene without having the police involved. But when she called the other party's insurance company for claim, she met a worried pattern: first the insurance company wanted her to drive her car to a location to get assessment instead of coming to her; then she was mailed many forms to fill without any indication when they are going to pay for the damage. What she needs to do next? Any experience to share please? My won experience has been positive in the past so I don't know what to tell her. Thanks in advance.

Your friend has two options when it comes to a claim. She can either claim thru the other company, which she is trying to do now and go to the adjustors office for an estimate and fill out all the forms they are going to send her or she can claim directly thru her own company if she has collision coverage.

If she goes thru the other company it will take longer, they are going to investigate the claim making sure that their insured is at fault for the accident and if they decide that their insured is at fault they will send her a check.

If she goes thru her own company the damages will get fixed right away but she will have to pay her deductible to the body shop. After the damages are paid her insurance company will subrogate (try to get back what they paid out along with her deductible).

If it is minor damage and it hasn't been dragging on for a long time go thru the other company.

Always file a police report!

She should get her insurance company involved and let them deal with the other company for her.

It is normal for them to want her to get a damage estimate at a body shop instead of sending an adjuster out. That saves them from having to pay someone to go look at her car.

Good luck to her!

Tell her to call HER insurance company. Her insurance company should be assisting her.

It is not abnormal for the insurance company to ask for the vehicle to be taken to an inspection center. This was the way it was done in the past. If she has a problem with it, again talk to HER insurance company or insurance agent.

I agree with the first two. She should also get a couple of estimates from body shops. Give the other insurance company the highest one and work from there. Most body shops will give free estimates.

Gee, I don't know....maybe go drive her car to have it assessed and fill out the forms. They don't HAVE to go to her...she went to THEM for payment of damages. Just because they assess the damage and have her fill out forms doesn't mean they're paying for anything....when she gets a check or a denial letter then she'll know what the situation is.

If her car was driveable, why would they come to her? And why would they send her a financial offer before anybody has assessed the damage? And, most importantly, why hasn't she called her insurance agent or claims centre?

i don't comprehend what Mickey Mouse coverage companie your with yet all value is with the different driving force by using their coverage. you in basic terms telephone to maintain your coverage business corporation contained in the loop and supply the different drivers information so provide them the reg of the automobile as properly as make and style. i think of you may desire to telephone them lower back start up from the begining and supply the drivers information and that they'll chase the different insurers. in the event that they're uninsured then the police would be in touch.
