The voltage in houses is 120 v AC , car amplifiers run with DC voltage (12-14)v. To power the amp using household power outlets, you'll need a power supply with the power specifications of your amp, (voltage, current, fuses) to power your amp. Now for the speakers if you're going to use household speakers they are probably 8 ohms, wire them in parallel to lower the impedance to 4 ohms which are best for car audio systems

The best way is to use a 12-volt power supply. These are widely available for a range of prices that goes up as the current capacity increases. You'd want to match it to the current draw of the amplifier, so if your amplifier has a 20-amp fuse in it, then something like this should be ample: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=120-548

the only thank you to hook the subwoofer up is with the speaker inputs. in the experience that your domicile amplifier does not have a subwoofer output on it, then you definately'll would desire to get a preout or an equalizer to sparkling out each and all of the frequencies you do no longer choose going to the subwoofer. and a subwoofer is largely a speaker so it is going to constantly act like a speaker. :p

you need a converter, you can pick up at Rad Shack. but those are high. just save the 70 or more dollaz your gonna blow on it,pawn the amp and speakers no one wants to buy from you and buy a home unit. i have seen some good ones start at 150.00 w/speakers. And it wont look like crap in your living room. just make sure your friends don't spill bongwater all over it like they do your carpet.

Stoner has the best answer so far. but . you cant convert it. the 12 volt wont work with the 120 current. you would have to completely rewire it. its more trouble than its worth so just pawn it and buy a home system. you can usually find a good deal on them at the pawn shop
