While watching Worlds I thought that I heard that they were getting rid of them. Is it true? Do you know any websites that say this?

I have never heard such a thing. Without compulsory dances there would be no ice dancing. I am sure you just misheard them. I did not hear them say they were going to get rid of compulsory dances. perhaps someone was just saying that he believes they should?

I sincerely doubt it. Compulsory dances are what makes ice dance ICE DANCE, and not just "pairs for people who can't jump". Getting rid of compulsory dances would kill ice dance as a discipline. I think there are far too many ice dancers out there for any of the governing bodies of the sport to just end their sport for them.
