No one dies!
We're eternal!
Only the body dies!
You were living before birth!
And will live after the death of the body!
Where is your embryo body?
Where is your 5 yr old body?
According to science, all cells of the body die all the time!
Every 7 yrs ,you change body!
So when it's useless, diseased, you get another one!
Just like you change a used car!
So,no one should cry for a lost one...
As he/she is always alive...somewhere else..
Or can come back in the same family!
Higest religion teaches you how not to come back to this miserable planet Earth, and go to the spiritual abode.
By purifying your living ways, lead a saintly life.

Following a near-fatal auto accident in 1990, I found my awareness out of my body.
It was a state of pure awareness, without any 'human' emotions present. No fear, no pain, no excitement or what we call happiness either.
The 'place' was undefined - I have come to call it 'the gray room' since it had no color of any sort, was neither black nor white - but the idea of 'gray' and 'room' is really just an analogy.
It became clear that I could stay where I was, keep going further into an unkown but perfectly safe 'direction' (this is also an analogy because without a place, there is no direction either). It was also clear that I had the power to re-enliven my physical body which I had just left and which was about to die.
There was a love - the only emotion-like feeling - that persisted.
With this love, I re-entered my body, miraculously survived the accident and lived on with a renewed confidence and a new set of values.
Everything fades away when the body dies. What concerns us in the body: pain, hunger, desires, attraction, loss, things, people; all that becomes entirely meaningless when the body is gone. There is no longer a distinction between 'loved ones' and other people. Other people in physical bodies only have meaning when the awareness is IN the physical body.
The religious beliefs and labels I had tried to embrace or reject within my mental body awareness were totally absent in this experience.
Love does remain, and it is a peaceful, joyful, all-encompassing 'thing'.
That was my experience. When my awareness in the body becomes stressful, I at times place myself back into this memory. From there, things take on a new perspective and I once more know what is important and what is not.

Depending on what your beliefs are, there are several answers. I will list some of them.
Religiously Speaking: IF you live your life according to the rules set by whatever god you believe in, you will be rewarded or punished accordingly.
Optimistically Speaking: There is life after death and we come back as some sort of spirit or energy that is left to wonder for all eternity.
Pessimistically Speaking: We are all worm food.
Scientifically Speaking: There is no proof of life after death. So therefore, we cease to exist.
Personally Speaking: I believe that I don't know what to believe. This is the reason why I ignore it and live my life to the fullest extent and not worry about it. Be happy that you are alive and breathing and you will live longer.

Few things have to remain as Faith in Unseen things. Even today's science has started with some major assumptions and faiths. Till now time is not defined scientifically. We can measure time and know that time will always go forward. There are few theories that time is going forward like how our universe is expanding. Time is a dimension for all measurements. Scientists say when everything move with the speed of light, then time dimension will not be there. Bcos till now we know only light as the fastest moving thing in the universe. As per Newton's Law every action will have its reaction. So time also will reverse at some moment, that is the whole universe will start contracting to become a single entity. That is what muslims, christians & jews call it as Judgement day. We will see all our actions that time as time is running in reverse direction. Finally, we will reach an eternal stage in Hell or heaven as per our deeds. It is not easy to imagine the life after death. Bcos in that life there is no dimension called Time. Also there is no negative aspect. If you are in heaven, then you get whatever you want. If you are in Hell, you are again in a mode of continous pain. This kind of situation is difficult to imagine bcos in this worldy life we have ups & downs. Merits and demerits in whatever situation we are in. Instead of going deep into this imagination we can say what are the advantages in such a belief of "Life after death". Today no Police, no government, no law can stop man if he intend to do something wrong. The best way to control man should come from himself. He should strongly believe that doing such an act is wrong. Then only he will stop from doing it. To achieve this this belief is helpful. Today man forgets this and hence his path of life has deviated. Many bad things are made to appear as good. He justifies living as per his own desires.

The best clues to it are in near death experiences reports. There's also a lot of channeled books out about it. The best movie I've seen that is close to what I've discovered about it is "What Dreams May Come".
You won't get valid answers on what occurs after death in the physical body from religions, expect maybe Buddhism. They are the closest to the truth.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
