Stay DOWN as much as possible. Keep washing those hands, well. Get as much rest as possible. Drink Propel mineral water, keep yourself and your child hydrated. Drink soup, and try to just keep as many fluids going down your throat as possible. Remember, the faster you lie down and rest, take the fluids, the faster you will be well. I hope you are both well, really soon!

A couple of natural antibiotics (that won't cause yeast infections) are Oil of Oregano (liqui-caps) and Olive Leaf Extract (capsules or liquid). If you use the liquid, mix a dropper-ful in 2 oz. of water. It tastes AWFUL, but it's the most potent of the choices.

Also, the herb echinacia (sp?) is great for preventing and lessening the severity of common colds. It comes in capsule form as well. Follow the dosage on the bottle.

Any health food store should carry all of these.

There is this stuff called Umcka which you can get in healthfood stores and it clears up a cold fast with no side effects(It is all natural). Umcka ColdCare is made from Pelargonium sidoides - a geranium species from South Africa. Umcka relieves cold symptom, and also shortens duration and reduces severity of secondary throat, sinus & bronchial irritations. Close the bathroom door, run the shower on all hot water, and sit (outside of the shower) and breathe in the steam for about 20 mins a few times per day. At night, use a vaporizer while sleeping. Drink plenty of non-caffeinated fluids also!

I also find eating spicy foods, such as hot & sour soup temporarily helps me with the congestion. I also find drinking Emergen-C or Airborne shortens the duration.

Eat chilli peppers they're good for stuffy noses! When I have a cold I always drink Vodka, I believe it sterilises you from the inside, even if it doesn't help with the cold it definitely makes you feel better! Don't recommend it for your daughter though! Also taking a zinc supplement will help

If it's a cold caused by a virus, antibiotics won't do anything anyway.

For congestion, go eat a serving of the spiciest food you can handle or anything with horseradish. You'll be breathing free by your third bite.
