My son lost his leg to this disease when he was only 10. That was almost 10yrs. ago. After all these yrs. I still carry so much grief. He on the other hand is very well adjusted, happy and with above average intelligence He is unable to ware a prosthesis do to a healing problem.

Sounds like your son has accepted that this is part of who he is. Unfortunately, you seem to be blaming yourself that your son has neurofibromatosis. Instead of blaming yourself when you had no way of knowing your son would get this, celebrate the fact that you raised a well-adjusted happy,intelligent young man. You did a great job!

It might be time for you to see a counselor to come to terms with your feelings of grief and guilt. Please don't beat yourself up over something that is beyond your control.

yes I know someone! He has had a very hard life, but he was lucky enough to have a very special mother that did the very best to give him a good life! He had a good step father, that stepped in and was the father figure and support he needed!He has turned in to a very intellegent and independent young man that everyone is proud of! He had to go through more hardship than any one person should have too, but then it made him who he is to day!
