If my car is in the sun all day the radio won't turn on but the days when it is chilly out it comes right on. Any ideas

While it might be normal for your sat radio not to work in temperature extremes, I'd bring the radio back to exchage for another, or at least get a warranty replacement to try it out.

The only symptoms I've seen on mine is the display gets DARK when it gets really hot, and on the other extreme end (cold), the display seem to respond extremely slow. But the radio itself worked fine. I use the XM Roady2 and Roady XT.

Not the least bit crazy. A lot of electronic equipment has an operating temperature range, and won't come on to protect the equipment if it senses too high of temperatures. The interior of a parked vehicle can go extremely high on sunny days. (Which is why you never leave Fido in the car).

So, normal behavior.
