I have a dog that I never had allergys too. (I know I am allergic to cats) We just got a new puppy also and my allergys are going haywire. How come I was never allergic to my first dog and now that we got a puppy they are going crazy. I am sneezing and my nose will not stop leaking. I don't want to get rid of him, but I can't stay like this forever. Any help please!!!!

There could be several reasons for this. Some breeds of dogs produce more "dander" than others, some may trigger your allergies while others don't, or you may simply have "crossed the threshold" of how much your system can handle at one time.

There are options: the link below takes you to a site that lists many of them. Hope you find something that works for you.

Different breeds - some people are allergic to some breeds and not others. Go to a doctor and ask for allergy shots. They really helped my sister who had the same problem. Also, you can try bathing the dog (don't do it yourself because that wouldn't help your allergies getting wet dog fur all over you). The dander, saliva is what most people are allergic to. Try to avoid dog kisses, sleeping in the same bed, etc. Vacuum often and that should also cut down on the allergy symptoms.

Maybe the new dog has been near a cat and needs a good bath or the new dog has something else. I would take the new dog to the vet and go get some allergy medicine.

Its not always the dander people are allergic to. Its usually the saliva of the pet. Unless you go to your dr. and stay on your allergy medication for a very long time, It will continue to be like that. I hope all works out for you. I know how it feels to have to lose a pet. Good luck.

there is a hypoallergenic dog I think it is called a laberdoodle and you can get it in any collar. The puppy might have more dander than the older dog. It might also be the length of hair I have come to find too that all dogs even 2 of the same bread will shed different.

It depends on what type of dogs they are. Some dogs are more allergy friendly.
