get your hair thinned. Any salon will do this for you if you ask. It'll make your hair more manageable. At home, to get the smooth, thin, shiny look, I rub some Sunsilk hair De-Frizz cream then blowdry. my hair has never been so smooth, silky, fine and soft

It's very hard to say without seeing your hair, but if you go to a salon, they can thin it for you. Layers usually add to puffiness, so you may want to consider letting your layers even up. There are several anti-frizz serums in the hair product aisle that work well, and you can buy a straightening iron, like a curling iron, sort of. You can also use a blow dryer and round brush and sort of roll your hair around the brush and tug gently as you blow dry it straight. Just be sure not to set the heat too high and use a good conditioner if you are using heat. There are chemical straighteners, but they are pretty harsh and I wouldn't recommend them.

You should keep the layered look and cut your hair about a few inches past shoulder length...then get some side bangs and you oculd straighten your hair...my hair is very curly, puffy, and thick too...I use a "Remington wet to straight" straightener that i bought from Wal-Mart and it works great! I would also reccomend Garnier Fructis Weightless Anti-Frizz Serum...that stuff is a miracle! LOL...=]

the layers make it puffier. try to get it razored thin. it last about 6 weeks but it works.
Try to get it chemically relax if u have naturally curly hair.
btw, shoulder length makes hair curl out in random directions if u have thick hair like me.
keep it long.
