To allow you to have a virtuous response to the ills in the world. Some virtues; courage, compassion, generosity, etc, are not possible with out an object and those objects would not exsist if no one suffered. The value of your courage, compassion, etc, outweighs the negatives of the suffering and hardship that inspires it. Thus a world with pain can be more valuable than a world with none.
I don't buy this argument, but it must be addressed. Such a question without consdiering its answer is no better than asking about the 2nd law of thermodynamics.
By the way, ignore the "free will" argument people. That argument is on par with why are there monkeys.

You have to have faith inorder to believe in god and you are never to question him. There are somethings humans just shouldn't know. If we didn't have any crippled, liars, serial killers, etc... we wouldn't know if we are perfect or not..
Some people also say that god created some sort of a problem for every single individual so that we don't forget that he is there and feel supreme because all humans should be equal. This was just how the creation was established the rest depends on humans.

The mechanism of every body that God has made is perfect. It is perfect to fend for itself and to find protection and food for itself.
The human form of body has, besides the above characteristics, a very important thing which other form of bodies, including the bodies of Devatas (gods residing in heavens) do not have. The human body can perform to know the God by sticking to the basic knowledge and learning more through a living true saint.
You are a thief or a killer etc. because of some misfortune which is in the form of accrued good or bad doings in your previous infinite births. But that still keeps you a cotender for achieving God's knowledge, since you are in the human form of the body.
In a nutshell, what you do physically is not important, even when you give tons of gold to a temple. God only accepts the heart's feelings, which one generates with the help of a true, living saint.

In the name of Allah the most Gracious the Most merciful.
God almighty is the creator of the heavens and the earth and
all that is in it above it and below it .He[ glory be to him] is the
best of creators and has created everything for a purpose
Only God can be perfect, If you look around you, does not the
sky , the sun, the moon, the stars the galaxies and planets
move in perfect harmony?Look at the creation of plants, Fruits, animals and birds of various colours and sizes do you
think that anything is missimg.Look at how perfectly God has
constructed the Human can you find a defect ?do you think
that one eye would have been better? or three hands were needed? Is there something that anyone could have added or
removed?Allah is the best of creators !
Now you have to understand the purpose of life to answer
your question. We have been created to acknowledge the
presence of the one creator and to worship him on his terms
and conditions. This life is a life of deception and will one day
end . every one is going to taste death at some time. The real
life is the next life which will be eaternal This eternal life is subject to Paradise- Swarg fot those who worshipped the
one creator and an eaternal life in Hell_Narg For the wicked.
Therefore this life is a test .If everyone would be born perfect
then where would be the test? You will have students in a class
all geting the first rank! there would be no competetion!God the almighty is wise and he knows best so he has made this
life a test for the next life.A blind man or a crippled person or
a spastic child who have been diprived the pleasures of this
world would recieve the mercy of his lord and be rewarded
with the pleasures of pradise and you and me with all our
faculties intact would end up in hell .They will thank God for
having depriving them of the pleasures of this life after they
witness the pleasures of the heareafter. This is also a test for
the parents who have such handicapped children if they bear
with patience and accept what God the all wise has Decreed
for them they too will get a higher reward that other parents.
God almighty has created all that is good .whatever evil that
happens is with our own hands when we follow the evil ways
of the devil by disobeying our creator.God almighty has given
us a free will to choose between right and wrong , good or bad.God almighty does not need us to be perfect, He is merciful to us even with all our shortcommings,it is not perfection of this worldly life that we should acquire but the
perfection in our worship, in getting close to our Creator, and
we can attain this perfection only by obeying the Command of
Almighty which you will find in the teachings of the holy Quran
and the life of the prophet Muhammad [peace and blessings
be on him]

Life is not just about the perfectionism Sonu, havent you ever thought that people who are not crippled or handicapped are also not perfect......everybody in this world is lacking something or the other. The one and only who does not lack anything is God himself.....and he has given humans so many complications just to see how we handle with them. Have you heard about Stephen Hawkings, the great scientist, he is a perfect scientist but he has his whole body paralysed, yet we praise him because of his genius. The other example is Osama-bin-laden, who has all his organs in place but has a corrupted mind, everybody condemns him because his mind is paralysed.
People who have very good, mouth-watering looks can be so shrew and people with the ugliest face you would have ever imagined can have the most generous soul in their body......Nobody is perfect in this world because the only perfect entity in the imagination is the God himself.
God Bless you.

1. Perfectness can always be improved.
2. In real world also, what is perfect to one person is ordinary for other person.
3. Human race is only one particle of sand in the whole area of beaches in the world. We should not over estimate ourself.
4. If everything is perfect always how should we progress, what we will do then ?
5. Dinasours lived 140 Million year and our ancestors are only 8 million years old and may not be able to survive another 1 million year.

the redeemed will be perfect in heaven forever
and they will be better off for the lessons they learned about God's mercy and forgiveness and will enjoy heaven even more as both men and angels glorify God forever together better because of the mercies shown to a fallen people
and justice shown to the stubborn
On the subject of handicapped people. I think the quadrapalegic Joni has allot of great things to say and I particularly enjoy her talk at the National Conference on Suffering and the Sovereignty of God 2005 http://www.desiringgod.org

First you must define what you mean by God... and they you can think why He can or cannot do something... your question if asked from the point of view that God is something quite specific can be answered, but you did not say what that is ...
Did He create everything, good as well as evil?
or
Does He stands on one side of the etherial regions with His powers, and The Demons on the other side with their powers, and both are fighting for victory and rule of a world that is made by some unknown creator? In other words, is the world a stage (whose?) .... and we are merely players, including the Gods and Demons?
I think that gives some sort of a start for the argument ...

Free choice. Free choice makes destiny; if I act in goodness, then my future is good. And if I act badly, my future is bad. That is destiny. Man is the architect of his own destiny. If you are educated, your future is nice, and if you remain foolish, then your future is bad. Future destiny depends on present action. The Lord is never responsible for anyone's vices or virtues. By vicious actions, we are put into more and more distressful conditions, whereas by pious actions we place ourselves on the path of happiness.
Although the Supreme Personality of Godhead is the ultimate doer of everything, in His original transcendental existence He is not responsible for the happiness and distress, or bondage and liberation, of the conditioned souls. These are due to the results of the fruitive activities of the living entities within this material world. By the order of a judge, one person is released from jail, and another is imprisoned, but the judge is not responsible, for the distress and happiness of these different people is due to their own activities. Although the government is ultimately the supreme authority, the justice is administered by the departments of the government, and the government is not responsible for the individual judgments. Therefore the government is equal to all the citizens. Similarly, the Supreme Lord is neutral to everyone, but for the maintenance of law and order His supreme government has various departments, which control the activities of the living entities.
Nature is said to be the cause of all material causes and effects, whereas the living entity is the cause of the various sufferings and enjoyments in this world.
The living entity in material nature thus follows the ways of life. Thus he meets with good and evil among various species.

Because he made man perfect, with free will, and man chose to sin, thus screwing everything up. Now, mind you, God didn't NEED man for anything, so I don't know why he created him in the first place, but it's not God's fault, even though, being all-powerful, he knew what was going to happen in the first place. Of course, he also knew Jesus was going to come along to fix all of it, so the problems you speak of really don't exist in God's world- that's only temporary and God's only interested in the eternal.
