do you think he will act in a more Christian manner than his followers?
Let's face it some of the "Christians" on here hardly preach a Christian doctrine at times, certianly not in the way I was taught to believe as a child going to Sunday School.
My parents were both religious people but thankfully they have let me follow my own belief's, never ever did they quote ryhme and verse from the Bible to me.....now that's what I call tolerence and understanding. What about you guys?

you say they......"never ever did they quote ryhme and verse from the Bible to me"
and you say...."My parents were both religious people"
interesting.Gods commands us to spread His word to all who will listen yet they won't even bring up their child in Godly ways?
When this happens, the world teaches a good aprt of it's ways to a child and generally they do not come to God because they have not been taught these ways
Tolerance and understanding?...... it sounds more avoidance and ducking their responsibilties to me.
You don't say in your post, but I hope you grew up knowing Christ.

If God is real, the Christian god that is, then surely he will forgive you no matter what you have done. Wouldn't be very godlike otherwise. So just lead a good life and you will be fine. Why would a God need prayer etc anyway? Is he vain? If so, not God. Does he need the collection momey? Is he poor? If so not God.
Religion is about power and money. If God is real the Christians, Muslims etc who use it for personal gain or piousness will be the last people God would want by his side.

Yes, I believe "God" (whatever you want to call it) would act a hell of a lot better than his followers.
Both of my parents, while I was growing up, were not religious at all. The concept of God was talked about, but there wasn't a Religion that was used to show "God". I had freedom to study or follow any religion I wanted. I never had Bible verses thrown at me, except by my uncle lol

I suspect that what your definition of "Christian" is, is different from the Biblical one. You say your folks were wonderful and tolerant because they did not teach you anything (bible verses, etc). I'm sure they were nice people. But they do not sound like Christians. If they took no interest in the religious training of their child, but just let you "decide for yourself", then I'm sure you had no basis to make an informed decision, at least pertaining to the Christian Faith. You would have deciced for yourself in any event. Training or no training. This sound very "democratic" but in reality, it just denys that there is any such thing as absolute truth. What YOU think is a Christian, and Christian behavior, and what the BIBLE says is a Christian and Christian behavior, is two very different things. You might wonder how I know this, having never met you. Your question reveals it. The "Jesus" of the modern world and the Jesus of the Bible are two very different people. If you doubt this, just think of Jesus "cleansing the temple". Most people today picture Him as politely asking the merchants to leave. In reality, He made a cord of whips, and started HITTING them. Why? Because the TRUTH is worth getting "upset" about. Most folks in the 21st century do not like "that" Jesus. Or the Jesus of "John 14:6" ....."NO man comes unto the Father but BY me!. You know, the "My way or the Highway" Jesus. Too exclusionary for the modern palate. People like to think that all "nice" and "kind" folks go to heaven. They DONT like the teaching from Jesus that says: There ARE NO nice and kind folks. Just sinners that need a SAVIOR. And thats HIM. That is NOT what you or your parents would call "tolerence and understanding"......theBerean.************************...NOTE TO ANCHOR:***************** Yes maybe you should have specified "as an adult". You would have got some different answers. And what is with the name-calling. Morons? How is it "holier than thou" to point out that what the Bible calls a "Christian" is different from what the "world" thinks is a "Christian". Are you suggesting that ANYTIME a Christian makes a "value" judgement, they are proclaiming themselves to be "holier than thou"? No offense, but it sounds like that you have a chip on your shoulder. "Tolorence" and "understanding" are enemies of Truth. And the modern worlds definition of those two terms means accepting ALL religions and viewpoints as equilaly true. But either Jesus was who He said He was (with no watering down) or He was'nt. That does NOT mean that people who do not believe Him should be treated any less respectfully or persecuted in any way. We are all human beings after all. But having said that, that also does NOT mean that I am in any way a "moron", a "bigot," or any LESS loving than you or anyone else. I just happen to believe that its very crucial to believe in the "real" Jesus, not the modern worlds re-definition of Him. There is enough of that in this world. All you have to do is watch a "Peter Jennings" special of Him to know what I mean........theBerean

You and I have the same view of our religion. The first thing I heard in Sunday School was "God is Love" and then the teachers started telling me about the exceptions. What exceptions? God is Love, period. What other people believe is their own way of trying to find Him (or Her or It).
It helps me to believe that there was someone 2000 years ago, both fully divine and fully human, who accepted my sins as His burden and laid down His life to pay for them, and that He rose from the dead to show that death couldn't conquer Love. But, that isn't the way other people seek out God. And that's just fine. Your parents were my kind of Christians.

Undoubtedly he will. He's the perfect example we're all meant to follow but unfortunately we're sinful and won't ever truly match up. It's good to keep trying though.

Most religious people are afraid to let their children make up their own minds in case they pick the wrong god, or no god at all.

It seems to me that you haven't quite accepted God as who He is.
It was quoted to me once.." I'd rather live my life as if there is a God and find out that there isn't, than to live life as if there is no God and find out that there is".
