Yes, my grandmother read it cover to cover 12 times...she lived to be 90 and it was one of my best memories of her...every morning I would take her a cup of coffee while she read the bible in bed. Bless her soul!

Yes, takes a long time, and the problem is, I found it very inconsistent. And check out all the errors/contradictions. But that just opens up a big can of worms. There is a system I've heard of where it takes you on a journey of reading it in a year. Why do you ask?

I will be back to update my answer, with a website you need.

Yes twice and there is a site on the web where you can read it too, everyday, and if you want you can read along with the reader...it is fun and it is something everyone should do once in his life time. Especially if they intend to talk about a book that they have not read.

try re writing a book of the Bible in your own words, you will find it most interesting and enlightening.

Yes, I loved it every time? I now study it as well. I delve into the historical significance of the speech, practices, etc. It is incredibly interesting and informative.

I recommend a version written in a modern language that you understand.

The King James version, though beautifully written, is in Middle English and can be misleading if you don't have a very good command of the idiomatic usage and the meaning of many of the words that were chosen in that translation.

Those who say it contains contradictions are wrong. It is incredibly straight-forward and consistent.

No, I've just read the cool parts. There's some really boring stuff in the bible. The Book of Numbers is tedious enough to drive anybody mad.

Yes, it was very difficult to get through... first of all it's so utterly absurd that i can't believe what I'm reading half the time... the other half of the time I'm either being bored to death by "begats," Horrified by the absence of any responsibility of this god character, or trudging through some of the driest literature ever conceived.

Three times. Which is one of the main reasons I'm not a right-wing "fundie--" I actually know what the bible says, instead of going by what critters like Falwell, haggard (!), and Robertson claim the Bible ays.

yes. Its not good literature. Its full of revenge and violence. It contradicts itself a lot. It doesn't contain good moral lessons. It is very dangerous for weak minded people to read it because those people will throw away logic and reason. This is how fanatics are born.
