Ok my mom teaches 6th grade and they are having an international day. Each class has to pick a place and use this place to inspire the decorations, music, food etc. of their classroom. Then each class gets a passport to visit each place(classroom). Her kids are down to Puerto Rico or Costa Rica. Which one is better and y?

Costa Rica definitely. It's more exotic and can be considered more international that Puerto Rico.

Costa Rica. Puerto Rico is just a bunch of U.S. citizens that speak Spanish, so it wouldn't actually be anything international. Your teacher should have known that!

Either would be very interesting to learn about. Can you invite Puerto Ricans or Costa Ricans to the party? Do any of the kids have that kind of heritage? I'd say go with whatever gives kids the chance to have real contact with real people.

I live in Japan, we often have these international classes, too.

Costa Rica is very interesting in it's connection to coffee and trade and also the tourist industries. As well their culture has been and is in transition from a more machoismo culture to equality between men and women which would make for a great culture and gender lesson.

Good luck!
