If my great uncle has a neice, how would I be related to her? What type of cousins would we be? I'm going for the specifics here lol.

My grandmother's brother is her uncle, and my great uncle, so how closely related would she and I be...

Let me describe some more details about this since I obviously did not do a very good job lol, but forgive me, I am horrible with genealogy.

We know we are cousins of some sort but I'm trying to narrow it all down. My Father and her Mother are cousins, my grandmother had a brother....who is "her" uncle and he was my great-uncle. But I am not sure as to which uncle of her's he was. I don't have all the details as you can well see and most of these people are dead now so I can't ask them. Just throw out all the most likely possibilities for me and I'll try to go from there and sort them out.

Oh, and I know for a fact we are blood related.

Thank you all but I have solved this mystery. We are third cousins.

When in doubt, draw it out:

See, there's something here that doesn't add up.

One possibility is that her grandparent (could be either grandma or grandpa) is the sibling of your grandma and the "uncle." In that case, the uncle is actually her great uncle as well as yours. That would make you second cousins.

The second possibility is that there is no "other sibling," her mother is the sister of your grandmother and the "uncle." That would mean her mother is your father's first cousin once removed, not just a "cousin."

This is hurting my brain, can I just see if I understand correctly?

This person is your great-Uncle's niece, but not your grandmother's niece, is that correct? So she isn't the daughter of a sibling that your grandmother and great-Uncle share?

If this is the case, then I assume the relationship comes from your great-Uncle's wife, as in it is her sibling's child, so he is her Uncle by marriage, rather than blood. If this is the case, then you share no direct relationship.

First cousin, once removed would be true if this person was also a niece of your grandmother.

2d Cousins. On the grounds that you are quality-grandparents (your grandma's mothers and fathers) are the primary usual ancestors you might have. The time period 'eliminated' is used in case you are at special levels for your household tree. Some additional working out can come with the aid of clicking on the sources under. Additionally, it was once no longer wonderful (and in some instances presently) for first cousins to marry so 2nd cousins getting together is not that weird.

What relation are her parents to your grandmother? If she is a daughter of one of your grandmother's brothers or sisters, she would be your first cousin twice removed. But if she is a niece of your grandmother's brother as a result of his marriage, she is not blood related to you at all.

The niece of your great uncle could either be your mother, the sister of one of your parents, which would make her your aunt,
or a cousin of one of your parents, which would make that person your second cousin.

If it's your great uncle by marriage to your biological great aunt, ok that's more complicated. I believe his niece would be your second cousin once removed. The "removed" refers to a relationship that exists because of marriage, not blood.

ahhh isn't she also your grandmother's niece? First cousin once? twice? removed. It would also possible if you hadn't described it the way you had - cousin - that it's your grandmother's female child which could be your mother or aunt.

Hey, just call her cuz.

she would be a second cousin to you.

As for you and grandma and her brother being her uncle. That has no effect how you and her's relationship.

Okay I may be weird here...but I think she is either your mother or your aunt.

My grandmother's brother is my great-uncle...(my mom's uncle)...

If you want specifics, you need to go into specifics. You might not be related to this person at all.
