Steroid use has been on the rise.

In addition to the health risks using steroids, legal issues, performance issues, any one who injects anything into their body is putting themselves at risk.

Not only college athletes but everybody should be aware of AIDS. College athletes should understand that in the event of having AIDS they won't be able to perform to the optimal level

I think your question is a very good question and to be quite honest, a question that many people don't even think about. In this case, I think one of the reasons why college athletes should be aware of AIDS is because, athletes, on the whole, are idolized and many women look up to these athletes as heroes, swooning over them and as a result, developing very hard crushes on them. Once these athletes establish themselves as "athletes", their "hunkiness factor" quadruples and this in itself plays a large role in their dating numbers. This translates to the possibility of having numerous sexual partners, which in turn, translates to the potential of acquiring HIV which causes AIDS. Secondly, some athletes may even perceive themselves as "the man" (for lack of a better expression), and may use this factor to acquire many dates with willing females. There will be many females open for this opportunity. Again, as a result, the action of sleeping with a multitude of partners increases the risk of being exposed to someone who is HIV+. When you think about it, it really should be something that everyone in this day and age should be aware of and how to protect themselves from it. It's not easy to become infected with HIV if one is using protection but it is easy to fall into the temptations of going the distance to sleep with many partners thus placing one at high risk. Hopes this helps with answering your question! I'm sure you'll get quite a few responses. I'm curious as to see what others have to say about it. Very good question!
