Get tested!

Females can have a pap smear done. Pap smears can detect any abnormal changes on the cervix cause by HPV.

Unfortunately though, there is no test for men. Men usually find out they have the virus by developing genital warts from it. But, not all people with HPV develop genital warts, so that person can have the virus and not realize it.

If you are male, it will be difficult to tell, if not impossible, unless you begin to show signs of the virus (Warts, et cetera)
If you are a female, once you become sexually active it is paramount you have yearly exams! The OB/GYN take a pap smear to check for such viruses, each time, as it is a latent virus and can become active any time after having sex. In some women, it never amounts to anything, or it will clear on its own - in others, it will develop into cervical cancer and other such diseases.

get a test, but since youre a guy the worst that can happen is genital warts which you can get a prescription medicine for. However, if you were a woman you would be at risk for cervical cancer(guys dont have a cervix) so id get a test before doing anything that could spread it on to the ladies

For men, its hard to tell unless warts appear. For women, there is a simple test done by your gyno that can answer that question. Its important to get routine check ups done.
