The dealer has said that the bushings in the upper control arms for a 2002 Jeep Liberty are not serviceable and new control arms must be purchased instead. They are apparently sealed into the arms somehow. Can anyone show me documentation otherwise? Please help.

After fighting with the warranty company and the dealership, it turns out the bushings are 100% serviceable. This makes perfect sense of course. Jeep was just trying to grab a few hundred more dollars for their pockets.

moog shows a part # k7390 but my source does not show any available at this time. I know they are replaceable but parts availability may be an issue. they said the same thing about the upper ball joints and control arm bushings on the dodge durangos until they had to recall the upper ball joints and then suddenly they are available separately and I have also replace the upper bushings on durangos and dakotas and they still say they are serviced only with the control arms.

Before you spend the money to buy new ones be sure to check with the dealership about a recall on them. I had a 2002 and about a year after we bought it there was a recall and they got replaced for free. This may be able to save you some cash if they were not replaced before. I hope this may help some!

The bushings are replaceable, just had that done on my 96 grand cherokee, both sides cost about $350 including labor. But that's not to say that they've changed the design since 96 on the control arms.

Yes you can replace them. Dealers try replacing the entire arm because its easier and faster for them. Probably also more profitable.
