Lifespan for HIV depends on a number of factors.

I always hope that someone hasn't contracted a medication resistant strain which makes treatment more difficult.

Many people who are diagnosed go through a period of depression and may make unhealthy choices for themselves which helps the virus.

Using alcohol, drugs, poor health, poor eating habits, etc. can also affect a person's outcome.

A person's access and ability to afford treatment is also a factor.

A person with HIV can also be "re-infected" with a medication resistant strain which makes them sicker.

Each situation is unique.

as long as they were diagnosed early within the disease and they go through with their medicine and treatment they could live another 25 years!
