legal and illegal, should America arm itself to the hilt?
Would this mass murder had ended differently if some of the students had personal side-arm/weapons to protect themselves with?

I wouldn only SUGGEST, that since our government (for whatever reason) can't protect us, we need to protect ourselves. Given the large number of undocumented illegals, unscreened visitors or those given greencards that kill many American born cit. daily, it seems that "the Wild West" scene has indeed returned.
Terrorists blowing us up, other citizens killing and stealing without impedence, killers killing cuz they can have guns easily in wanton acts of crazyness ...seems to me to call for a time to arm oneself. I don't like the idea particularly but I have to believe that if you knew your neighbor was packing ...you would deal with them in a please and thankyou way, don't you think?
A kinder ...buy not gentler nation?

Yes, I know and agree that Amer. Citiz. kill each other daily too. BUT, when a green card holder ( this loon in VA) can buy a gun and kill, it seems wrong to me. What if this was an organized attack by crazed Terrorists. They could kill hundreds of us with little trouble if we gave the the rights to own a weapon and sold it to them. That's what happened in VA and is what I am talking about. But a gun in the hand will protect you from anyone who is a loon, won't it?

We citizens, as well as our government, are charged with exercising due diligence to ensure that our laws are enforced and our government is properly run. More than arming all the citizens, if we would just enforce the laws we have on the books, there would be a substantial decrease in criminal activity. When laws are not enforced and there is no reasonable expectation that they will be enforced, these kinds of actions will continue to occur. When the laws are not enforced, then criminals have all the power.
I think it's a good idea for citizens to be armed and know how to use those weapons. However, I think it's a better idea to have our laws enforced and the criminals incarcerated. If we show the criminals that their actions will not be tolerated, the crimes committed will decrease substantially.

Every citizen of the United States of America has a natural born right to keep and bear arms. It's the Government who places such restrictions on this right that puts all of us in danger. If everyone carried a firearm LEGALLY, like a spare tire, it would be used just in case. If you choose not to carry, that's your life. Don't infringe on my right to self defense, I've never hurt anyone.

I've seen a sh*t load of american criminals, that were born in teh states.
Timothy Mcveigh, Jeffory Dohmer, Ted Bundy,
Green River Killer, Gracie, Charles Manson,
and believe me the list doesn't stop there.
I think they should have better campus security.

Yes, if even a few of the potential victims had been armed, there would likely have been fewer total victims. Then again, there may also have been more smaller-scale shootings over the years - some perhaps in self-defense, others, perhaps in the heat of a moment that would otherwise have ended in a less-lethal form of violence.

Your immigrant comment is a non-point. Americans kill Americans daily.
However, states that allow concealed carry of handguns have lower murder rates than the states that don't allow it. If a crazy gun toting killer wants to kill people, which situation is better: a school full of armed citizens or a school full of defenseless citizens?

Why not do the opposite? Ban all guns. Take out the constitutional provision of having the right to bear arms. The Native Indians will definitely agree with you that most of the crimes were done by "white face" and other non-aboriginal US citizens.

Defense, is widely believed --by intelligent people-- to be an effective and logical response to an attack.
Cowering in fear, while HOPING the cops arrive soon, resulted in over thirty deaths, at VA Tech, yesterday.
Ask ANY crime victim if they would have liked to have had a gun, at the time of their attack.
