The respondents are wrong :
Arteries are those blood vessels which carry blood away from the heart.
The pulmonary veins carry oxygen-rich blood from the lungs to the left atrium of the heart.(colored in red).
Pulmonary artery that carries venous blood from the right ventricle of the heart to the lungs.(colored in blue)

Artery u mean? Arteries are muscular blood vessels that, except for the pulmonary and umbilical arteries, carry oxygenated blood away from the heart. They are contrasted with veins, which carry unoxygenated blood toward the heart.

Did you mean to ask "What is an artery"?

An artery carries oxygenated blood from the heart to the body. The one exception is the pulmonary artery. It carries UNoxygenated blood to the lungs.
