can I cook the food for my party? I am having a large party on Sunday and am strapped for time. I wont be able to cook the food on Saturday because I have other things to do. Would it be ok to cook a ham and ziti days in advance and then just reheat it the day of? Thanks in advance

It depends how many days in advance. I wouldn't go more than two and preferably just one.

the ziti will last about 4 days
you need to put it in a air tight container and pour some oil over the noddles and shake them around so they won't stick together.
make sure that your ziti is cool after you cook it place the ziti in to an ice bath to stop the cooking of the pasta.
then when you want the pasta just have not water ready drop the pasta in for about 1 minute and you are ready to sauce the stuff.

Most hams are precooked and only need to be popped into the oven until heated through so that shouldn't be an issue on the day of your party. The ziti also can be prepared ahead...maybe two days.

The ham should already be cooked. You can serve it cold or heat it up the day of the event. The pasta can be made friday evening but wait until the day of to put on the sauce...it will look and taste fresher.

Pasta can be cooked in advance, but don't add anything to it until the last minute. Cook, place in a container with a tight lid and refrigerate. You can do this 2 days in advance.
Ham should be cooked thoroughly before placing in the fridge.

When you reheat make sure that you heat to the proper temps and are able to hold at those temps.
