I've pretty much given up on them! Please send them not just e-mail and phone calls but snail mail also (that's where I got my best response). The reply I got from the idiots (to my snail mail) was that vegheads aren't a large enough target audience to justify the expense of developing a program but that if I'd like to finance one they'd love to see a pilot and then they'd consider the idea further. Besides Vegan's suggestion you might contact your local PBS station! They've done three veggie cooking shows that I'm aware of over the years.

Food Network complaining about not enough audience is absurd!

ditto to what the others said. I think a vegetarian show sounds like a great idea, at least for the sake of public awareness and for those who are either vegetarian (including vegan) or are interested in vegetarianism. Speaking of TV shows, I have always fantasized of Fear Factor's food component being banned altogether, as that was the part that put me off from watching that show anymore after a few times. Or I would hope they'd at least have a veggie eating part...I mean, all vegetarians are excluded from that competition because they can't eat what Fear Factor demands. Anyways, sorry, I digress...hope I provided some feedback though. Good luck with that...maybe I'll contact them too.

I've mailed letters to food network and the response was fairly neutral saying thanks for my suggestions, they are always looking for new show ideas but only accept show pitches from production companies (I wasn't pitching a show, just letting them know I was interested in such a show). The said there isn't currently a large enough market for a strictly vegetarian show but they will keep the idea on file in case there are changes in the market. That wasn't the exact wording, but that's the gist of it. Here's the address I used. (below)

They have had veggie weeks where several of the shows have a vegetarian focus.

Still, you should contact them. The more of us who do so the more likely they'll feel a shift in the market.

You should get a membership in your local public access channel. It's inexpensive and you can use the studio to make your own films.

Then you can run some vegan cooking shows on the air. Here's one:

IF you have access to a 3ABN affiliate, there are vegetarian cooking shows on there. (This is a religious network though.)

perhaps email food network and let them know that you can't find any cooking show on their station that is for vegetarians.

go to the library and read recipies for vegetarian foods and explore*

foodnetwork.com and actually that's a great idea. there is such a farm to table initiative as well as a push for all organic, it's about time there was a show that reflected that!
