Carmoisine is a synthetic red dye. It does not come from animal products. It is also prohibited in the US.

You got the i in the wrong place, it's spelt -
Carmoisine.

Yes it's vegan, but some people can react badly to it.

The following dyes have been linked to allergic reactions, skin rashes, hyperactivity and asthma so it may be a good idea to avoid them. Some dyes have been found to cause cancer in laboratory animals:

102 Tartrazine
110 Sunset Yellow
122 Carmoisine or Azorubine
123 Amaranth
124 Ponceau 4R
127 Erythrosine
129 Allura Red
133 Brilliant Blue
142 Green S
150 Caramel
151 Brilliant Black
155 Brown HT
173 Aluminium

It's a red dye. I think it is the artificial version of carmine (made from insects) but I'm not sure.

I believe that it is vegan.

For those who want to google it,
it's actually spelled "carmosine." And it is also known as Azorubine.

A lot of food colourings are synthetic coal tar dyes, the only one I know for sure that isn't is cochineal, which is red colouring from a species of squashed (and pregnant) beetles.
